le gangweed society man is considered cringe to zoomers now. The idea of the crackhead jester being the real beacon of insight is a tired millenial trope at this point. "People tend disregard rule of law and act in their own self interest if facing harm" is not particularly insightful or interesting. It just comes across as juvenile and emo.

The only solution is to disregard all modern joker interpretations (minus Lego Batman), forget about the killing joke, death in the family, Frank Millar and even the Arkham games. The ideal would be a slightly more goofy and actually funny version of Mark Hamill from BTAS. The Joker is supposed to be an scheming mobster that is actually funny but ultimately a little bitch like when he gets pressed by that random guy in BTAS or Ace on JLU. He is not supposed to be this unfazeable and unrapeable genius that hides his wisdom behind le wacky antics for the less initiated

I stll think there's plenty of meat on this bone. Even in a media landscape where the same story keeps getting told over and over again, it's a lesson that bares repeating, it's a classical crossroads of "Man vs. Man" and potentially "Man vs. God/No God". The bigger issue is familiarity with the character leads to projection from audiences onto them, which is where we got the emo shit and people saying Heath Ledger's Jokester is the deepest character ever.

Power fantasies are common to these cultural keystone characters, because they're the easiest thing to write because it's the most obvious choice to write. You can see this with comic relief characters like Cartman becoming unstoppable gods because funny marketing mascot man. That's not to say a well known mascot can't be more down to Earth, but at that point we as a society need to start demanding less power fantasy trash, which you can see a decent step towards general attitudes toward emphasizing Superman as a nice guy as opposed to the strongest man. This also extends to "smart" characters which are just "I can do anything because I'm 'intelligentt'" plot devices. Overall, I'd say start asking for depictions of el joaqer as a sort of dark everyman, and then he can still maintain his zany silliness without it being jarring when he switches between cartoon antics and murder.

If he puts his rags back on he might not be cringe anymore.

Just put Joker back into his comedy relief position until a second revival. The time is now for an under utilized nemesis like Bane.
>>
>>150194429
By making him a socialist dad, who yells at bruce for not getting electric cars.
>>
Just make him funny and deadly. Just make him the Joker, not the stupid society man. He doesn't have a reason for anything he does because he's so insane he is constantly changing the goal posts on a whim. That's the Joker.
>>
>>150194429
Make him funny instead of edgy. Batman has too many edgy villains.
>>
>>150195400
Also, don't make him a mass murdering genocidal psychopath. The Joker should only kill when:
>It's funny
or
>Makes Batman mad

One of the few good things to come out of the later King run was Joker apparently being pals with Selina. Him just chilling with other members of the rogues gallery when he's not on the clock makes him a far more entertaining character.

If anything, Scarecrow should be the scary, edgy, mass murdering Batman villain. You know, the guy that's actually interested in fear and terrorizing the innocent.

And look, I'm not saying that they should infantilize him, or give the "socialist dad joker" treatment to him, like the Harley Quinn show did.
All I'm saying is that if you want a "Muh society" character, use Killer Crock, his whole skit is that he was seen as a monster by "muh society" because of his skin condition. If you want the edgelord character, you have -as you mentioned- scarecrow, or alternatively if you want a physical fighter, Bane. If you want a "prince of crime" type, that is the Penguin or Black Mask.

Joker should be the "if you laugh, you go to hell" type.

Yeah, that's why Almost Got 'im is such a strong episode, having the rogues all interact with each other in a more-or-less peaceful manner really gives opportunities for them to interact and show just what their characters are like when they're not shouting at Batman.
I love little touches in that episode like Joker visibly cheating at every given opportunity, from hiding cards up his sleeve to peeking at an opponent's hand while patting their shoulder 'comfortingly'. He's not even subtle about it, presumably because he enjoys getting on people's nerves.

I hate it. How can Batman love someone who doesn't hate the Joker?
>>
>>150195942
There's another episode in BTAS where Batman visits Penguin in Blackgate Prison, and he's wondering if he orchestrated a hit attempt on, I think, Two-Face. Oswald remarks that he'd never order a hit on a fellow Rogue, "It just isn't done."

That is something really nice. The idea that all of Batman's villains have, on some level, a sense of camaraderie. That they ALL want the Bat dead and there's no sense attacking each other while he's still alive. Maybe they'll fight each other later, AFTER he's dead, but not before. In the meantime, they'll get along, and even cooperate.

The whole gangweed shit was started by Suicide Squad and was mostly wiped away with Joker 2019 only for Folie a deux to rape the Joker and turn him into a cringe joke again. Just make good products with Joker and he’ll be respected. Make bad products and he’ll become a meme.
>>
Fuck no, they should keep ruining the Joker so he's no longer too profitable to let him die for good. It'll all be worth it just to never see another window-licking retard ask "y baman no kill da jokr?"

I mean during the long halloween they are showed as a shared clique who cleared out the old Gotham crime families and surplanted them. They are a shared generation and even in old comics and media they often team up against Batman before breaking down into bickering.
>>
>>150194429
start doing him mobster level threat again and not super duper incarnation of chaos
>>
>>150194429
>Joker gets raped
>Everyone hates him now
It's Killer Moth's time to shine now, baby
>>
>>150194429
Joker isn't a source of any supposed wisdom. Just one bad day is an excuse, the first Joker movie also was about an attention seeking man weaponizing the excuse and those who bought/identified with it to cause as much of damage as he could.
>>
>>150196799
Hell, Terry spelled it out years before that movie did.

>The real reason you kept coming back was you never got a laugh out of the old man.
