Fletcher Hanks.
>>150204608>posts tracerkill yourself
>>150206685He's definitely a generational comic book *SOMETHING*
>>150206728Hanks haters will be sent to the FLOATING PRISON OF ETERNAL ICE.
I always liked Perez
>>150206801Interesting Fletcher Hanks move that he does more than once is fusing the bad guys into one character, seemingly either because he ran out of space or just didn't want to draw multiple guys anymore.
Neal Adams, the GOAT.
>>150208154>goatNot even close. No more than mora is a generational artist.
>>150208199You're full of it. Adams is a classic.
>>150208208I didn’t say he wasn’t.
>>150206225Debating if I should get his style guide
>>150208235If you have the money? Sure. Why not?
>>150208235I got it, I had been waiting for it to get an official release for years. Not just an amazing showcase of JLGL's art, but an important part of DC's history in the early 80's. I wish Marvel would publish their style guide from the 80's (with mostly John Romita Sr.'s art).
>>150208335I wish they’d both go back to a house style and firmer character models.
>>150206728He's an all-time comic something honestly
I am one of two people that don't hate JR JR's art.
>>150208384Im the other. Even his modern work.
>>150208154He drew my favorite version of the Bat.
>>150208384I don't hate it. He's not as tight as he was in the late 80's/early 90's but he's still a competent storyteller. Nothing beats when he was getting inked by Al Williamson and Klaus Janson though, they understood exactly what to do with his pencils.
>>150208384His recent stuff is just completely unprofessional
>>150208441Better than anything mora is drawing certainly
>>150208441Anon, that was a cover he drew recently.
>>150208428AFAIC he's still the definitive Batman artist.
>>150208438I liked his art in Wolverine: Enemy of the State.
OP here, i though this thread was dead and went to sleep.>>150208493I like JR JR as well art as well. strong line work, great at drawing action, faces, etc.
Tom Mandrake.
>>150208458Oh wow a single character on a white void. However did he ever manage the sheer complexity of base line competency
>>150204608I don't like it. His art looks very gay.
>>150208860Is Dan Mora gay?
this might be divisive but I'm gonna pick Todd because of how iconic and recognizable his style was, I love the tone of his renders and how he ignored anatomy, etc. for raw style
>>150208914He drew art of Batman and Superman kissing but only because Chinese fujoshis kept paying him to do it at a convention
>>150209452What kind of annoys me about Todd is that everything that made his Spider-Man popular, he got from Art Adams, but Art Adams wasn't lucky enough to be assigned a long stint drawing Spider-Man to get the acclaim Todd got.
>>150208914No. >>150209462If only he did more of it. What I'd give to see his rendition of Midnighter and Apollo.
>>150208860As opposed to Travis Moore's body of work?
>>150208914no but >>150208860 might be
>>150204608I think he's overrated
I like Liam Sharp when he's not covering all his linework in Photoshop filters
>>150210974
>>150209617
>>150209509Adams wouldn’t be able to do a monthly run for long. Hell Todd only could for a few years too. That said, it’s more than just his Spider-man look that made his art popular, his pages are just really dynamic and engaging even if he’s less skilled technically
Dan Mora is a great character artist but you can tell he doesn’t really get classic comic dynamism. He rarely uses dynamic foreshortening or really pushes his figures, they all look like basic 3D models laid out instead of using his imagination to create visuals. Something about it just lacks energy
>>150206842Same here.
>>150204608Post mora drawing lois gigantic and perfectly shaped super butt
These last 17 years (from 2008 to 2025) house style guys were:Frank QuitleyPhilip TanIvan ReisDoug ManhkePatrick GleasonClay MannDan MoraJorge JimenezMikel JaninGuillem MarchMitch GerardsScott KollinsAdam KubertGary FrankJason Fabook
>>150210974>>150210974>Liam SharpI love him too, his morrison lanterns and blackstars and brave and the bold is uber kino.I love John Romita Junior too, but his last good art was all star batman and captain america (and that was like 2014-2016)
Big John Buschema
Robert de la Torre is good
>>150212487is he the new guy in Titancomics Conan?
>>150212571He was the big one. They've had a few artists who, outside one, have been alright.
>>150212387>house styleNot only are none of these artists similar enough for that to be true there hasn’t been a house style at either of the big 2 since the late 80s.Im so goddamn sick of casuals like you using this term despite not understanding it.
>>150206842I thought he had some weird same-mouth going.Looks off and uncanny
>>150208384Same, hes THE spider-man artist of my childhood. I started reading with his stuff in mid 90s
>>150213361Bagley was better
>>150213243There are general trends. In the early 90s, most Marvel artists were aping Jim Lee or Todd McFarlane. In the mid 90s through the early 00s, it was Joe Mad-adjacent. After the early 00s, Bryan Hitch and other more detailed, more nearly realistic styles. Just look at 90s Bagley, where he was copying Todd and 00s Bagley where he was copying Bryan.Though you're right that a lot of those artists are far too different to lump them all as "house style" guys.
>>150208384I think digital/modern coloring makes his style look a lot worse
>>150213918I never claimed there weren’t trends. But anyone claiming there was a house style at either of the big anytime after the late 80s is retarded.
>>150214512Either of the big 2*
>>150204608Love his art
>>150215091why?
I like Mignola's hellboy a lot but I always like seeing his non Hellboy work
>>150208384JR JR was hard carried by his father's inks. Once Janson became his inker his art immediately went to shit, especially over the last 20 years as he's become an old man whose own penciling skills are nowhere near what they were in the '80s.
>>150208914No but like a lot of artists for current DC he draws, either intentionally or because it's what the company wants, in a way that's meant to appeal to fujos and gay men.
