"crippled" is a slur apparently, tons of SP episode titles are censored, it's a show about being vulgar and offensive, do they expect people browsing the wiki to be offended?

Fuck Fandom I'm glad the SP wiki moved to wiki.gg

I'm still disbelief about Fandom killing the Pooh's Adventures wiki. There are so many absurd articles I could've read and had a laugh at, but I never got the chance to read all of them. I really wanted to read about Pooh's Adventures in Dead Space, and Fandom Wikia stripped that opportunity away from me. Pieces of shit.

The problem with these Wikia-likes is from experience they have issues with being crawled by search engines
I had a Miraheze wiki for a manga but no matter how many settings I fucked with Google would never crawl it meaning I got no traffic, meaning I was the only one editing it
Eventually I just gave up and moved on, someone did dl it and rehost it on Wikia tho so not all my time was wasted
Funnily enough the whole reason I went to Miraheze is because Wikia arbitrarily deleted it the first time, I don't know if it's because rape was a major plotpoint or if they’re just dicks
>>150207376
I've seen them cite wikis for trademark renewals but I don't really think that's as common as you're implying considering a lot of them have people whose sole job is to archive and research their shit, like George Felderstein at Warner Bros

Reminds me of one time when reading the SpongeBob wiki like 2 years ago there was a pop-up recommending The Loud House wiki saying "fans like you are also watching the Loud House", and no joke, the picture they used for it was some autistic Deviantart tier edit of Lalaloopsy faces onto the characters, any of you guys get that pop up too when browsing that wiki? Coincidently enough, I was roaming around the Lost Media Archive (since that wiki has a fair share of schizoid talking app pages) and, while not a page by some autist, I found out that Road to El Dorado has an EXTENDED version of the "Lucky God" scene that got cut short??? Matt and Trey have even admitted to reading off wikis to remember things they forgot, and that's how some fanon like Kenny's sister being "Karen" became canon.

>>150207376
That, and FANDOM came right out and said Fanon Wikis (like Pooh's Adventure) fuck with Google search optimization. FANDOM is trying to get a lot of their Wikis to be "official" (meaning there is a direct line of contact between the Wiki and the companies who own the IP a Wiki is based on), so it's going to get to a point here very soon where all fanon crap is getting the boot.
>>
>>150210374
Honestly I'd love to see them try. I want to see a big wiki who's already moved to wiki.gg or miraheze get a shutdown threat, and the admins just let them do it since the entire thing's been backed up anyway. I doubt they'll actually follow through with a shutdown.
>>
>>150210399

I know when it comes to /a/nime wikis, the reason why there are two fuckin' HETALIA ones of all things in this world is because one of the admins got into an ego war with Wikia/Fandom staff over hating the new layouts. He blanked the wiki, got yelled at for that, then decided to make his own while the original got left up and filled with vandalism. The original's still going strong to this day.

Unfortunately in that one former admin guy being both a Hetalia fan and a smug control freak case, he let his own wiki die and refuses to let anyone else work on it so everyone has to stick with FANDOM. You have to have people that are dedicated in running mirrors or open to help for sure.
>>
If they're moving the South Park wiki why even bother with the Fandom one? Why suck up to Fandom for censorship? If your moving the wiki to another site just fucking rebel against them until they close the Fandom one.
>>

Why people use Fandom to make wikis? It's simple Fandom has tools preinstalled that make making a building a wiki very simple.

It's when you try to make a fork of a wiki, you'll find you have to put a lot more work into making wiki. But this is me forking a wiki to Miraheze.

You can't "rebel" against Fandom. The staff will just unperson you and give the admin rights to some dude who will bend to the will of staff. I've seen it that happen a few times, wow and transformers wikis, for example.

Fandom as a rule doesn't delete popular wikis for the reason those just bring more clicks to their servers.

When a community leaves Fandom, the site retains control of the wiki, and leave it open to collect a few more cents and drive traffic away from the independent one.

>>150207426
They're often not as detailed because you just can't compete with the free detailed work of an autistic fan. Also, even if they do have it, access to it might be more limited. Say you just get hired to do a poster for a company who is doing a licensed comic for a different IP and you're having a doubt about something. What's faster- sending a mail going "hey can you give me, a freelancer working for an external company working with a licensed IP, access to your internal database of facts about the IP", or quickly googling and checking the fan wiki about it?
>>
Fandom wikis are run heavily by autists, listmaking really gets their sperg juices running.

There are LOADS of random cases where writers will check the lore of whatever they're writing on wikia and accidentally add fanon into the script. It's usually minor things, like someone adding a character's fake middle name to the wikia and everyone just assumes it's right until it's canonized..
>>
so, first thing you need to understand is 90% of "political correctness" that actually occurs is corporate PR shit. The cutthroat capitalists of Hollywood trying to warm up to a neutered "left" of their own creation. the Roseanne firing, you get it.

But when they do this too often they have to let some edgier language through, so "cripple" is one of the first words you hear. The handicapped have real problems like how fucking expensive accommodations are, how inaccessible the world is when your body doesn't work, people grabbing your wheelchair handles and moving you around like furniture, governments taking away the benefits that keep you alive, and then having to compete for jobs with the able-bodied in a shitty economy, etc. Name-calling is actually not much a problem in the adult world. So when there's a backlash against political correctness, the media can capitalize it by saying "cripple". around 1990, the series finale of Quantum Leap had a whole dialogue about "wouldn't you rather be called ridiculously-long PC phrase than cripple"? and around 2000 the pilot of House MD had the brain worm patient flat-out ask "why you a cripple?" and the handicapped are like "thanks for not being condescending, this show rocks"

indeed South Park is the embodiment on the whole "capitalize on the backlash" mindset, although the bigger a company gets, the more beholden to shareholders it becomes, the more cowardice its executives will have, so it gets worse every time there's a merger.

They've said that Lucasfilm, DC, Marvel, a lot of RPG properties, and a handful of video game properties are the only ones who have their own internal Wiki-like databases they can dig around in. One guy I know got to work with the Terminator license, and said he was only given the "do's and don'ts" and absolutely nothing in regards to lore or in-universe material, he had to use the Terminator Wiki to get specific dates and weapon types and whatnot since they didn't give him anything beyond "just watch the movie"

Reminds me of this funny story I have

I remember I used to browse the Happy Tree Friends Fanon Wiki back when I was a young little autist, and there was this guy who would constantly insert his diaper fetishes into stories, and mentioned how his self insert OC liked to play with Cub (a character thats a literal baby) and put him inside his diaper or some shit. He was banned from that wiki in like 2019, 2018 or something I don't remember, so he made a separate wiki called "Happy Tree Friends Fanon Adventures Wiki" where on the main page he wrote "I got in big trouble with fetish content on the Happy Tree Friends Fanon Wiki so I made this wiki to continue my HTF storytelling. I'm IN CHARGE, so ANYTHING GOES, I DECIDE WHAT CAN AND CANT BE ON THIS WIKI." or something like that. Like half the characters he made all wear diapers and he had categories for characters that wear diapers. His wiki was nuked by Fandom like 3 years later.

I looked it up out of curiosity just now and he's moved his wiki to Miraheze where, to this very day, he's STILL writing Happy Tree Friends diaper fetish fics and still focusing heavily on diapers and shit, for example in his trivia sections for his episodes he writes shit like

>No diapered characters appear in this episode. White Dog was originally going to wear a diaper but instead he wears his underpants. Cassie the Diaper Magician and Tiro the Diaper Magician were also going to appear but got replaced by Toranna and Varn. The Caped Diaper Girls were going to be in this episode but The Caped Panties Girls took their place. The Other Giggles does not soil her panties in this episode. Originally The Other Diaper Giggles was going to be in this episode but her sister took her place.

Fandom is an autism magnet.

I remember there som anon who with some others tried to set a fork on... fandom. The fork was deleted because, according to him, one of admins at wookiepedia had used his connections with the fandom staff to sabotage the work on the fork. Lesson here is if you're going fork a fandom wiki don't use fandom as a wiki farm.

It seems like people are already kinda intentionally fucking up the South Park Fandom wiki, the front page has a jpegged ass low res image of an episode that aired like a month ago rather than the most recent one, and clicking the image doesn't even link to the correct episode.

>I looked it up out of curiosity just now and he's moved his wiki to Miraheze where, to this very day, he's STILL writing Happy Tree Friends diaper fetish fics and still focusing heavily on diapers and shit
I can't wait to read some cringekino tonight. I'm also a diaperfag by the way.

The Marvel wiki is actually a pretty good resource because when you go to check a character's appearances they're all listed in order. Why the fuck can't the DC wiki do that?

Good, fanon wikis are retarded. Nobody wants to go to a wiki to read your fanfic bullshit.

Autists love filling the trivia section of wiki pages with tangentially related shit. A character will wear a red shirt in an episode and they'll write about how it's similar to an episode from another show where a character wears a blue shirt.

The DC wiki would barely update their pages.

I had this experience with video game mods. Why do people even make the wiki if they're barely gonna put anything on it? Just to say "I run this wiki"? Why?
