Who here still collects floppies? Tell me about your collection.
>>150207692I only get trades if anything
>>150207692"floppies"? who's ever called them THAT?
>>150207692I still do, mostly just for artists I like and admire or sentimental issues to me. I did just get a bunch of Silver Age Marvel books for $2 each I was pretty proud of.
>>150207692I just stick to rare shit that I really like. For now I mostly focus on collecting Archie Sonic floppies, specifically from the pre-reboot Flynn run. Most of the issues I own are still the same ones I had as a kid. They're in pretty good condition, so I bagged and boarded them during the Coof. Now I'm looking to expand my collection.I collect these specifically because I really liked reading them growing up, and because they won't be officially republished anytime soon (only if Penders dies, and SEGA strikes a deal with his estate to retain the rights of all those characters).I'll also pick up floppies of books that haven't, or will most likely never be collected or republished. Moore's 1963 comics, for example. Haven't completed it yet, but I got myself a signed copy of issue 2 by Steve Bissette.
>>150207692Buy them every Wednesday. Ongoings and back issues.

>>150207692Started a new job this year that's by a comic shop with tons of unsorted back issues, so I've just been going in early some days to dig out a few issues for my lunch breaks.
>>15020769224 long boxes at the moment, plus a short box of keys kept separate. Picking up a 1st Carnage from my LCS on Saturday. It'll be far from the biggest book in my collection, but I'm happy to get it. The MtG Spider-Man set's bonus sheet cards have me in the mood to snag some of those iconic covers.
>>150207692The only complete run I have is Marvel Fanfare, otherwise I mostly collect Annuals, since until the late 80's they were usually self-contained stories, so they're easier to collect and read on their own. They usually also have better artists than the monthly books as well, like Art Adams, Michael Golden, Dave Gibbons, etc.
>>150207692I just reorganized mine. It is mostly 90s stuff but I enjoy that kind of thing>>150208589Everybody
>>150207692Been collecting for 30+ years and have almost all the Marvel comics from the silver age to today and about 90% of DC from the silver age to today as well. Don't really like trades, I like the original books.
>>150209192got any pics
>>150209192How much money is that?
>>150209523Probably a million dollars in total. But I have a rich dad who put me in his cushy line of work. Didn't collect cars or watches and shit like that like most my peers, and most of my stocks pay dividends.
>>150209916Damn bro, make a video showing it off.
>>150209922Too much of a robbery risk as I live in a pretty easily identifiable place.
>>150207692got back into them this year. just for the sake of it. made a pull list and everything and my first box about to be stuffed already.its comfy AF reading them with a good cuppa.nice way to get out of the house.
>>150207692I have some old comics that I like that aren't available in collected editions or sometimes an artist / writer got onto a book for only a handful of issues that I want but don't want the rest of the book. Besides that comic shops give out freebies, crowdfunders sometimes throw in some floppies of the book as a free bonus and some indie comics only come out as floppies. I have thankfully been able to keep myself away from buying any expensive floppies of buying loads of cheap ones from dollar bins so my collection in small.I think the format itself is fine, maybe even great being so light and being able to fold the book out flat to see all the 2 page spreads. Most of them are far too short and they barely have a complete story in them to justify their existence unfortunately especially at the price of modern ones but I don't read much modern stuff. Also storage is just a pain, pulling them out of bags and boards instead of just pulling them off a shelf is a hassle if you want to read a few issues
>>150209916Bitch you spent a million bucks on this worthless crap?
