>>150213352Not the other anon, you're objectively right, but arcane is one of the many media influences by the into the spider-verse style. If almost 95% of media is influenced by it, how can you say is something superior, when said 95% is just copying the same animation idea, even if they use it in a incredible way.DreamWorks did a cool job too in that regard, but all of that media just copied technique created in spider-verse.

>>150213734Something can take influence from something else and absolutely improve on the design and do it better than the original. That's not what happened with Arcane, though. Fortiche was already kind of doing that. Arcane and Spider-Verse were being worked on concurrently, Arcane just took twice as long to finish.
>>150213950Arcane didn't take that much time to finish actually, they just had a long hiatus. When the animation started it was all done in like 2 or 3 years I don't recall exactly.Definitely Fortiche already had this style, they've invented it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nlJuwO0GDs
>>150213764Found an even jankier scene is like they fucked up in production. But I went frame by frame, it's just 12 fps, the issue is that 3D shit only fools our brain at around 20-24 fps and above, this is why cinema has settled for it after lots of experimentation.Tranime still goes with 12 because they're poor and the coomer neets they cater are few and poor. This shit is even worse since just moments before it was 24 fps then randomly drops to 12 fps.>>150213735The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
>>150210914South Korea feels like if you took all the worst shit from Japan and America and cranked it up to 10. >People here are legitimately saying arcane, didn't copy/was influenced by the spider-verse style.I love that show, but still.
>>150214494It's even more obvious when you notice how they use it, when objects move etc. they use 24 fps, when scenes are static they go 12 fps.

>>150210769It's a seismic shift for the animation industry. We don't know what to call it yet because it's new. It's a mix of classic American style animation, anime, and Korean pop art with some unknown quantity mixed in. The success of Kpop Demon Hunters marks the sift away from the balloon animal style of the last few Pixar movies and the embrace of something edgier and sexier. And the funny thing is, it has super broad appeal. Little girls are going absolutely nuts for Kpop Demon Hunters which proves that audiences don't want "safe" character designs and animation, they want stuff that is bold and exciting while feeling a bit like an idealized version of reality is in there somewhere. They took the idea of a Disney princess and puta an edgier less safe Eastern spin on it, and now they're reaping the rewards. You are going to see the industry scrambling to keep up with this new shift because this is what the audience wants.
>>150214286it's a case of state building failing in a different way to the middle east. Where the gunpowder empires destroyed the civilisational infrastructure and ideals of governance beyond clan structures in the middle east, korea was built on an extreme form of confucianism where stratification is never challenged. With their kingdoms being built on being a tributary to the big local power, no one had to change it, from without or within. The idea of challenging the status quo or class system is alien to them. They probably should have been genocided on a cultural basis, their wealthy aren't able to understand the idea of courtesy to those with access to your food before you. they see restaurant staff and think "I should be insulting this low class peon in every way possible." never go eating with them. They also expect the fact that they went to one of 3 schools in seoul or are a year older than you to mean they're always right. The japanese have the ability to be profoundly insightful and soulful, the koreans have all their worst traits and an addiction to vapid status obsession.
>>150216308>And the funny thing is, it has super broad appeal. Little girls are going absolutely nuts for Kpop Demon HNo anon, the little girls this shit's aimed at only watch it cause it's about K-Pop and anime, all this is gonna do is create more slop films sucking up to Koreans corporate ass music genre.

>>150213735My lived impression of the Chinese is that they're very much salt-of-the-Earth, hard worker types. My guess the reason why they're so "buggish" is probably the direct result of generations living in abject poverty and starvation during the Great Leap Forward. That's my guess though.Don't wanna sound like a third-worldist CCP shill over here, but at least it seems the Chinese are ambitious enough to have the want and need to establish themselves in the world.Meanwhile, my impression of South Koreans is just spitefully seething over "MUH RICH PEOPLE" and their draconian society all the time, while gravitating over the most borderline retarded, surface-level, gaudy, materialistic trash.

>>150210769It's crazy that picrel will probably go down as one of the most influential animated movies of all time simply based on how many other films directly try to copy it's style
>>150225416>tfw black people will now take credit for this new wave of animationI hate niggers so much.
>>150225416I think the visual style in Spider-Verse is great but I really don't like the limited framerate gimmick. If anything I'd love to see a 3D animated movie done in HFR but HFR is basically a flop and we'll likely never get to see a film that actually warms up audiences to it, and I think animation would probably have been the best use case scenario for it.
>>150210769Mira, my beloved~
>>150225416In a roundabout way you could arguably trace the lineage of this movie back to other productions around that period>Madagascar has extremely graphic designs with pushed poses>Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs figures out pushed poses with noodle limbs>Hotel Transylvania refines this>Lego Movie attempts stylized limited framerate animation>Peanuts Movie refines this AND captures the look of the comicsThree years later, Spider-Verse pops out. No coincidence that two of those films were Lord/Miller productions, either.
>>150220528>for stylistic reasonsmore like "for marketing reasons"a popular movie did it, so they do it again and again and again, not realizing there was a reason for it in spiderverse
>>150225416oh please, it's a trend, that's it.
>>150210914Pretty much this. There's no Korean equivalent to Grave of the Fireflies or Wall-E. Everything they make has minimal depth with nothing to say about society or politics. However, I really want to be wrong and eat my words. Does any philosophical Korean media even exist?

>>150210769I don't understand the bitching about the frame rate. From a tech geek standpoint, you can obviously complain about how it's only done to save money, but from a stylistic standpoint, how is it any worse than any other style choice? The characters don't look like realistic humans. A high frame rate is not going to fool you into thinking the action is real. So why not make a fantasy that looks like a Laika or old Charlie Brown cartoon you've enjoyed without thinking about it before?
>>150210769Korean webtoon inspired
>>150231986Those kinds of people have convinced themselves the choppier framerate is done for budgetary reasons and not stylistic reasons. No point in trying to convince them since they insist on being miserable and thinking more frames = "better."
It amuses me to see people complaining about how it plays with the frame rate like Spiderverse without realizing that the reason for it is because it was done by the same studio and that's a signature style they've developed. It's not as though they're incapable of animating at the traditional framerate, since they do it during action scenes to help make the dynamic movements feel smoother and faster.

>>150216308The animation is clean and recognizable. It's what Disney did with Wreck it Ralph 2. Elsa in modern clothes. People want to see pretty girls kick butt but remain feminine. It had zero cussing & sex. The girls are not one dimensional. It had zero LGBT. Zero woke or DEI. It had normalcy heterosexuals. It had fun upbeat positive music. Its safe for kids.
