Why does so much of modern Western media seem to hate white men and boys?Take Spider-Boy, for example. He’s supposed to be the hero of the story, yet they made an entire storyline where he gets beaten up and insulted by girls, then has to run away in terror from them.The message is clear: 'boys are weak, girls rule.'And it’s not just that. DC just announced a new comic series about kids taking on the roles of Arthur’s knights, and the trailer made sure to show a boy failing to pull out a sword and acting stupid, just so a girl could easily do it while looking cool.I can’t think of a single comic where the roles are reversed — where the boys are portrayed as cooler or tougher than the girls. It’s always the other way around.And it’s not like there are many new young white male heroes to begin with.Even in X-Men, when they introduced a bunch of new mutants, of course they were all minorities or girls, usually shown beating up 'sexist' white men.

They want to appeal to the sensibilities of women so they depict young men as immature and non-threatening while overcorrecting for previous examples of poor writing when it came to the characterization of women, except it doesn't come across as emotionally engaging since it still dehumanizes the women while making the men the only emotionally vulnerable characters.In the end, it doesn't appeal to women because the female characters aren't emotionally compromised enough and lack any positive interest in men or any sense of actual friendship with other women. And it certainly doesn't draw any boys either because boys prefer characters with emotional maturity and a sense of power behind their actions. It's not to say that boys can't fantasize about women outdoing them, it's just that it only works under the context of "a cool cool guides me and motivates me", not the "this girl is being selfish and rude, and not in the attractive or endearing way".

You're older and stronger than he is, but that means you have to be the bigger guy. You let the kid win so that he will feel good about himself.Men and women have their differences. An average man is stronger than the average woman. The power imbalance results in the societal expectation to treat women delicately. If you make a comic that reflects reality and the men easily beat up women, the guys will look like dicks. And the ryona fetishists are not an audience that most people want for their works, anyway.I'm not saying the "boys suck, girls rule" message is a good approach, though. The strong independent girl heroes who don't need no man have become such an overused, tired cliche at this point. It might work okay enough in media that seeks to attract a female fanbase (although usually that demographic wants relationship stuff and a love interest or two). As for male-oriented media, it's overplayed and actively alienating to the target audience.

Gon flirts with old women, and has a caring - but childish - female master, and Gohan tapped a spunky tomboy while he is infinitly stronger than her. The issue is not conflict, its actually quite patethic how western entertainment is affraid of showing women in a vulnerable situation, be it emotional od physical. Even more when its in relation to a guy. This is why you won't see Marvel putting out a comic where a bunch of boys super heroes beat up an young girl hero, and makes she run away.
