Why did Plastic Man never show up in the DCAU?
>In Justice League Unlimited, Plastic Man was never actually shown on-screen, and was only mentioned in the episode "The Greatest Story Never Told". According to Dan Riba, this was due to a possible Plastic Man animated series helmed by John Suriano and Tom Kenny (who also voiced Plastic Man) having been in the concept stage at the time for Cartoon Network. The series was never greenlit, however a one minute short titled "Puddle Trouble" can be viewed on the DVD release of the 1979 Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show. Despite never appearing in the series, a JLU action figure of Plastic Man was released by Mattel.
>>150238611That's why? Why couldn't he just be in both?
>>150238455Boring ahh character
>>150238611That sounds like a stretch.
>>150238611The show got rejected for Johnny Test IIRC but Suriano made a bunch of Plastic Man shorts for DC Nation a few years later>>150238652DC had character embargoes back then so if a someone showed up in one show they couldn't show up in another. It's why Robin wasn't introduced in The Batman until after Teen Titans was cancelled
They didn't need two stretchy guys
>>150238849That's silly>>150238861The DCAU had more than two
>>150238455Probably the powerset I'd go with if given a genie wish limited only to powersets.I mean, MAYBE the Freedom Ring, but it'd be close.
>>150240352Don't genie wishes usually have a catch attached to them?
>>150240467I think that's a modern affectation. Regardless, the point of the post was the powerset and not the method of acquiring it.
>>150240778Fair. I can't really think of a negative to the powers regardless
>>150240909>I can't really think of a negative to the powers regardless.
>>150241027I don't get it
>>150241317nta, but maybe he's taking Plastic Man's powers literally. if you asked a genie to be like Plastic Man, he may make you a literal plastic man....
>>150241355Heh
>>150238455Weird seeing him with black goggles
>>150238455He died on the way back to his home planet.
>>150238611>The series was never greenlitHopefully he gets another chance at a cartoon soon>>150238849>The show got rejected for Johnny Test IIRCI thought it was for Teen Titans Go
>>150245598>I thought it was for Teen Titans GoThe 2005 version (Puddle Trouble) was rejected in favor of Johnny Test. The 2012 version and other DC Nation shorts were rejected for Teen Titans Go.
>>150248560I can't believe it got turned down twice
>>150238455Too OP
Why does Plas have such few runs?
>>150252033How do you write a story about a guy who even Batman with Prep can not figure out how to kill?
>>150252038Just write silly adventures
>>150241355https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM0teS7PFMo
>>150238611Every time I read about this embargo shit I think it's stupid, but then I remember how easily confused the average consumer is and I kind of have to give it to them
>>150252687DESU given the extreme amount of oversaturation nowadays and all the different universes people have to keep track of i've come around to embargoes being a good idea actually. Like it's so retarded that we're gonna have two live-action Batmen existing simultaneously
>>150240352I'm surprised no DC character tried to reproduce Plastic Man's origin
>>150238455He was busy
>>150238455Impossible to adapt.
>>150252049Which is pretty much every mini:DyingFeeling some guiltLosing powersAll three plus slapstick
>>150257330Plas seems perfect for cartoon with him being a living toon
>>150254326>people have to keep track ofThey don't if they aren't terminally autistic. Most people don't care enough to worry about this shit.
>>150240352I'm with you on this. even though there are so many powers that would basically be granting you godhood being this stretchy would just be more fun and probably more useful in the grand scheme of things.
>>150238455Pretty sure he was in Injustice.
>>150257849He will probably also be in the new game
Who knows
>>150257381I thought he was immortal
>>150260141The stories usually revolve his powers going to shit and killing him.
>>150261673Wasn't it only the most recent mini that was about that?
>>150259914I know
>>150252033DC doesn't know how to write him. The only time he's worked is when Jack Cole was around.I haven't liked any DC version of Plastic Man, though I still haven't read the Silver Age or Foglio/Barta series. Baker's version started off alright but he ran out of ideas too.
>>150238455He wouldn't wear pants
