God knows why I feel like reading comics again. I read them mostly between 1997-2009, then I stopped completely. Pic related is the kind of stuff I remember enjoying the most. What current titles would recommend to me based on these?
>>
I hate to tell you this, but comics have experienced a creative and commercial self-destruction in the last decade and a half that is unprecedented in the entire history of the world across all mediums.

CURRENT titles? I shit you not: There really are none worth reading.

Grim. I remained resolute to not come back to comics during last decade because I knew the shit show that was 2010s culture/politics would naturally overflow to comics as it did in other media. I tell you what, I'll give it a shot to some titles the anons brought up but I'll keep my expectations low and standards as high as possible keeping in mind your advice.

I've been lurking for some 5 months, granted, less than a year, and did some research. I read some current X-men titles(Wolverine and The Exceptional X-men) and I didn't really like it. The contemporary comics milleu feels strange to me and maybe is clouding my judgement. For example, I didn't read Absolute Batman because I didn't like the art at first, but I'll give it a try. Also, I was not aware of some stuff like >>150242904 mentioned, Dark Patterns looks really good artwise imo. My bad I asked for recs, but I intended this thread to be a discussion on the current state of comics culture too.

It STARTED in comics and is BY FAR the worst there.

>The contemporary comics milleu feels strange to me

DC full rebooted in 2011 and has done major retcons and partial reboots SEVERAL times since then. They effectively have no continuity anymore.

Marvel just flagrantly ignores their continuity and history now and has been doing so for over a decade. Disney buying them was the worst thing that ever happened to the company.

IDW became a major player in the 2010s by grabbing up every license they could get their hands on. They have since lost almost all of them and are completely irrelevant now.

Dark Horse lost most of their licenses and are now a glorified manga publisher with a handful of Western creator-owned titles.

Image has become the main publisher of licensed titles, which are now their big thing.

Indies in general exist almost exclusively to publish licensed comics and wannabe screenwriters' film/netflix pitches.

That's the state of comics now. Needless to say, sales are BY FAR the lowest they've EVER been.

Faggots like you are why comic discussion here is so fucking dead. The catalogue is bloated with meme cancer for cringe, autist cartoons. Be glad anyone comes here in spite of you and fucking kill yourself.

To be posted in response to every anti-board-split faggot forever.

Some of those are not current or even ongoings.
>>
OP, I'd recommend looking into older stuff that you missed out on the first time around. I think that's what most of us few remaining comics readers do.
>>
>>150242488
Maybe Dark Patterns. I'm barely starting to read it myself. It's okay.
