>Europe gets nuked>only parts of Spain, some of the Nordics, and Greece in its entirety remainIs this going to be significant? There's honestly a very distinct lack of any white males in this book apart from Heavy who's a leftist. Even the Brit guy was Indian and he's now dead. Maybe there'll be a new character coming into play from any one of these areas? Also, Power Fantasy thread. It's one of the only good comics out there now, which isn't saying much, but still.
>>150270934What is this?
>>150270950Spiritual successor to The Wicked and Divine I think
>>150270934>The Wicked and DivineWhat's the context of this?
>>150270934It's a Kieron Gillen work so expect it not to get an ending and to try to be a tad smarter than the author can believably write. The theme of Supers as "realistic" superweapons threatening mankind itself has been done already quite a few times (Warren Ellis' laughable Supergod for a laugh, or the british Ten-Seconders) but it requires some finesse to be properly written.Nuking Europe is at least novel, you destroy a center of human civilization instead of, I don't know, Australia or something. Gillen being a blackie and a mutt has a clear view on racialized politics, but he's not incredibly blatant on them (Etienne may be a black power fantasy but he's also a creepy tyrannical fuck, the embodiment of "dictatorship for the supposed common good").The most interesting characters are for sure the fake Magus (being a normal guy just winging it) and Eliza. Masumi is incredibly unfortunate, the amount of tired almost-racist tropes she and her disposable Italian girlfriend get are probably the worst part of the cast.
>>150270950A Keiron Gillian comic where he gets to do all the things he couldn't do at Marvel due to the Status Quo having to be reset after the book is over.
>>150271325>Ten-SecondersThat comic had such an odd ending, at least it's a very quick read.
>>150271325>Gillen being a blackie and a muttWhat? The guy's just a hipster Brit.
>>150270934In real life this would cause a global economic crisis as ~30% of global GDP and some of the most important financial institutions in the world were erased in an instant and you'd see the effects everywhere from people out on the streets starving as the planet saw its GDP shrink by double the amount of the worst part of the Great Depression, never mind just pure material losses like agricultural exports that tons of lesser-developed nations rely on for survival and high-end manufactured goods which would have no real alternatives in some cases. Something tells me the comic wouldn't actually address any of this though.
>>150271799Nah, not really. Europe's relevance to the world economy has been shrinking gradually for decades. It would be a big hit sure, but nowadays other countries would pick up the slack more quickly. If anything, the death of millions of consumers would be the biggest issue, yes. Also who the fuck cares about financial institutions. The bank of london is still one of the most corrupt and internationally manipulative organizations in the world. Good riddance alongside any debt any country or company had attached to European banks (Unless some of the remaining countries manages to hold up the EU agreements and systems after it.)>never mind just pure material losses like agricultural exports that tons of lesser-developed nations rely on for survival and high-end manufactured goods which would have no real alternatives in some casesUS and Brazil alone export more food than all of the EU and China, US, Japan, Korea, etc. can pick up the manufactured goods slack no problem. Hell, several other countries would improve with the new free market for their own manufactured goods.
>>150270954its a story that was for immortal x-men before they blew that wet fart of an endung
>>150270934Is the new issue out yet?>>150270950>The Power FantasyYeah, clunky name
>>150271325>Kieron Gillen is blackhuh?
>>150271327>GillianGillen
>>150272551I mean it's still 30% of global GDP anon, it's been shrinking but that's still fucking huge. And the financial institutions would ripple out to you know, all of them that are connected. Like, every bank in the world. It'd be a huge insolvency crisis.
>haha i cant stop nuking the french> hey arent you kramer from seinfeld
>>150270934Why the fuck is this book being pushed so goddamn hard over the last few weeks
>>150271799It happened in 1989 and caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. The comic itself takes place in 1999, though with frequent looks at the past.
>Nuke Asia or Europe>Terrible things happen since they actually produce shit>Nuke North America>Nothing significant happens. Canada-who? Mexico-who? US is all about services aka selling literal air. At worst other countries will be forced to police international waters once again
>>150272723>immortal x-menthat was already shit.
>>150273897The US is the #2 largest manufacturing economy in the world, worth ~$3 trillion and focusing primarily on high-end products like planes, ships, machine tools, etc.
>>150270934Huh
>>150270934The biggest problem with it is that none of the characters are genuinely interesting. The designs are entirely bland, because this most surely is Gillen going>please HBO/Amazon/Netflix, pick up my comic for a tv seriesThe powers are boring. And the worst is that none of them have any actual personalities. The Jap girl is a non-entity. The Latina Jean Grey is just a generic good-hearted person. Hippie Magneto is entirely stock, and his son is another profanity spewing moron. Techjeets 1 & 2 are also just there to curse and be nonchalantly smarmy. Goth Christian has the best look but beyond it she's not terribly interesting. She's complex enough on paper, but as an actual execution she's only got two modes; snarling and going on about God. Autistic Negro Xavier is the only genuinely interesting character, but he can't carry an entire book where we're told things happen but are rarely shown them in how they impact the world. The book exists, but doesn't really do anything despite its promise that it's what Immortal X-Men should've been. There just aren't enough interesting and different viewpoints. Where's the normie-sympathetic individual who wants to uplift humanity? Where's the aristocrat? Where's the one who got powers and wants to make their shithole nation a big deal? And so on. All we're seeing are variations of leftism, and nothing else.
>>150271766bro you live off your parents
>>150273897very funny you included Asia to try and insulate yourself, like you're admitting you know you're talking bullshit
>>150272551>>150273897You guys do understand that the global economy being centered around finance today means that it'd hurt the global economy to lose huge financial centers even if they don't produce tangible goods directly, right? And that both Europe and America do in fact still have huge industrial and agricultural capacity which would impact the price of globally-traded commodities, right? Surely you're not this illiterate in basic finance and economics that you think only industrial products matter and that there's not such things as global basket goods, right? Surely.
>>150276681>muh economyMoney isn't real to begin with. Resources are real. Work is real. People are real. Money, though? Not real in any way at all. Losing all of the world's money would affect absolutely nothing long term.
>>150270934>Power FantasyI really, really despise how the name of this comic attempts to turn an entire genre name into a trademarked brand.
>>150277073Far out, man
>>150277245It should have been a subtitle at most.
>>150270934Why would someone nuke Greenland?
>>150277544What are you even trying to say? What kind of response is that?
>>150273861People are reading it. Relax.
>>150276014you made it mad
>>150276681Lets set that aside, the ecological impact of OP's pic would probably collapse the agriculture industry worldwide.
>>150277073>Money isn't reaaaaaaal dudeYou must be 18 or older to post here
>>150277073Ok cool. The world just lost 1/10th of its population, 1/4th of its industrial capacity, and a concentration of some of the most productive workers on the entire planet, all of whom are producing tangible goods that are essential to global trade and the production of high-end goods, as well as the farms that work to prevent starvation in Northern Africa and the Middle East.
>>150271799breheurope is not that important in that regardGDP doesn't matter
Is /co/ genuinely so stupid that you guys genuinely think that 700 million people dying all at once along with all of their material wealth and sending a whole continent the size of the continental United States under the ocean would have negligible consequences, or is this some kind of esoteric bait. Because holy fuck.
>>150281690It'd suck for a bit, there'll be famines in some places and some wars here and there, but I give it five years before it's back to normal.

>>150281690Eh it'll come out in the wash.
So what do you guys think is up with the telepathy nigga? How do you think he's still alive? Also do you guys think it's weird that the two planners didn't expect the very emotionally fragile asian woman to be totally ok with this?
>>150270934Why did she destroy europe? Why is she dressed so casually? Where did she get so much power?
>Everyone in this thread debating about the effects the destruction of europe would bring on the global economy>not talking about how 400 million people just instantly fucking diedis this thread full of /biz/raelis or what
>>150283801It's the most tangible thing to debate regarding the event. You can't quantify the emotional/psychological fallout but you can quantify the financial.
>>150282628Valentina (character in pic) did not destroy Europe though her fight to prevent the Queen (weird extradimensional horror that showed up and eventually spazzed the fuck out) probably did some damage.Europe got wiped out when another character named Eliza turned into a newly minted demon lord type thing killed the Queen and Europe got obliterated in the process. She's dressed casually because she lives in space and just chills a lot. She got her power because she's an angel who got sent to earth when we cracked atom bombs to prevent us from killing ourselves by being retarded. So far her powers are being a classic superman style flying brick and psychic immunity so the series Xavier character can't fuck with her mind.
>>150281690No, not really. I don't think it's esoteric at all. I'd say it's pretty overt.
>>150271336>Ten-Seconders>a very quick readkek
>>150280057>People are reading it. Relax.Bullshit, the threads barely get any traffic, nobody storytimes new issues and now OPs are resorting to culture war bait something is afoot
