Gillen being a blackie and a mutt has a clear view on racialized politics, but he's not incredibly blatant on them (Etienne may be a black power fantasy but he's also a creepy tyrannical fuck, the embodiment of "dictatorship for the supposed common good").The most interesting characters are for sure the fake Magus (being a normal guy just winging it) and Eliza. Masumi is incredibly unfortunate, the amount of tired almost-racist tropes she and her disposable Italian girlfriend get are probably the worst part of the cast.

The book exists, but doesn't really do anything despite its promise that it's what Immortal X-Men should've been.There just aren't enough interesting and different viewpoints.
