Skimming and getting the necessary information from it is a skill. It's mostly for getting important information from a large body of text but it can also be used to speed up reading a story without losing context.

I'm frankly unimpressed. It's a half way decent murder mystery with a lot of yammering, unwanted and unnecessary political prancing and a frankly unlikeable protagonist.
