>>150284803I love it because it's a pre-Scott Tenorman episode that's heavy on Cartman, plus the song that Charlie Manson sings in his moment of self-realization is legitimately heartfelt. Even South Park could be sweet when it wanted to be.Not just specific to this episode, but little details like Cartman's overly loud singing during the credits (like a kid hamming it up at a school Christmas program) are the sort of thing they will NEVER have in the new episodes because they are incapable of writing that well anymore.

I don't think Matt and Trey were pushing Charlie Manson as a secret good guy, the idea is that it's a heartwarming christmas episode but Charlie Manson is right there, and he keeps asking Kenny to come off to the side with him(back when Kenny was killed all the time)It's a deliberate spoof and twisted on expectations.

Rainforest Schmainforest was a good antimoral episode. If that came out today, they'd unironically try to convey a serious message about rainforests to the audience instead of just parodying sugary snot climate change activism.
