Terra was a monster. All of the instances where she could be interpreted as having conflict over Slade or the Titans were presented through superficial gestures that left room for comic-brained simps to supplant their own red herrings built on their narrative desire and expectations of Terra being "good" deep down inside. However, when you actually evaluate how Terra reacts in those moments and consider her true personality, it is SO clear she reacted "uncertainly" in those instances not because she felt guilty for her actions, but because she WAS guilty. You know, guilty as in an ACTIVE PERPETRATOR UNDER COVER? Even Terra's occasional off-guard stutters during her teammates' heartfelt comments and thoughts shared with her are more akin to her being taken by surprise. Their acts of warmth and kinship tripped her up not because she felt ashamed, but because she's a fucking freak with antisocial personality disorder with megalomaniacal delusions of murderous grandeur. Bitch was a ticking time bomb.Meanwhile, the Titans were all treating her like she's the unbeatable Squirrel Girl with a Scrappy-Doo attitude, just another plucky teen girl super-kid, nyuck-nyuck! And we saw just how much she LOATHES that trope itself. She says so to Slade and we're meant to believe he believes her because she's just that perfectly psychopathic. He's also aware that her attitude might get him in trouble with her if he doesn't keep dicking her 14-16 year-old evil cunny. After all, it was she who taunted him for "getting soft" and "losing his edge" as a killer.

The bias he explicitly wanted people to project was that she might be redeemable...only to be explicitly mentally ill and beyond saving from the get-go, tricking readers who expected her to be converted to the side of good. He was specifically motivated by his New Teen Titans storylines being compared to Chris Claremont's X-Men at the time, so he made Terra seem like Kitty Pryde's introduction as a bait-and-switch.
