Because writers don't want to participate in the society of the spectacle, so they leave their physical bodies and trascend while also dissapearing.
>>
If they write cartoons like cartoons they'll get bullied for being too weird so they write sitcoms
>>
They make them too NORMAL

words

Cartoons are so specialized that they select for people who fit in with the wider "community" instead of true originals. If you irritate too many people you're drummed out.

Plus there's only been one "prestige drama" cartoon in America - the criminally underrated Pantheon.

Because
>>
>>150330934
Because they don't hire good writers.
>>

Because most cartoons on these days are driven by shitty millennial writers rather than actual cartoonists who know their shit. Pretty much the only cartoonist driven shows we’ve gotten the past few years were The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, Smiling Friends, The Patrick Star Show, as well as films like The Day the Earth Blew Up and Fixed. I’m not even counting the shitty millennial beanmouth cartoons that were released than because they are made by people with amateur tier artwork.

Writer-driven slop are shitty shows like Rick & Morty and Wojack Redditman that prioritize writing over their shitty GoAnimate tier animation, when in reality a good cartoon needs to have both good writing AND good animation.

It's tough out here...

Where are they?
>>
>>150330934
Because you'll watch them anyway
>>
>>150330934
Because nobody's actually gone outside and interacted with anyone for the last 10 years now.

Millennials raised online and obsessed with "muh trauma" think they are deep and project themselves onto the characters they write and erroneously believe "morally grey" is deep and complex while forgetting they also need to be well-written and have narratively compelling reasons to act as such instead of being a whiny, self-centered asshole who just gets a free pass due to trauma as a whiny Get Out of Jail Free card.

Then there is the fact that animation here in the West isn't really taken seriously as a medium by the entertainment industry and garbage like Big Mouth, Fixed, Mr. Pickles, Rick and Morty, etc. haven't exactly disproved that preconceived notion.

As such, there is a much, MUCH lower barrier to entry that make nepotism less necessary as a way to break into that part of the industry.

Also celebrity comedians who've never written for animation professionally before get first dibs on pitching new show ideas to networks

Not being hired. Everything is done in-house since we live in a nepotism-happy world.
>>

Mainly because the writers have no experience with dialogue writing

They rattle off points and phrases without even pausing to consider how that sounds or even how the voice actor might choose to pronounce it, and they sure as hell aren't around to tell the actors how the scene's supposed to sound
