Sunshine has a fun story but I don't think the movies would be able to tell that story since Bowser Jr would be a hard sell after the first movie. Also a lot of people dislike Sunshine. Mario games don't really have stories the way something like Uncharted does anyway. They're pretty simple in execution and incredibly isolated from each other. The movie will likely pull from multiple games, and its probably using the Galaxy name just because it'll involve Rosalina and space. I wouldn't be shocked if they introduce elements from Land like Daisy and Tatanga too since we're going to a desert environment and Land is about alien invaders.Personally I would have done a Wario story for the second film but it feels like Nintendo doesn't want him viewed as a Mario villain since he has his own franchise.
