To support Raven in Ms. /co/, I'll be storytiming a Raven comic for the occasion. Tales of the New Teen Titans was a mini-series during the cult classic Wolfman and Perez Teen Titans run that detailed some of Titans' backstories, including Raven, to whom issue #2 is dedicated. That's what we'll be reading in this thread. Don't be discouraged that we're starting from 2, it's a pretty self-contained one-shot. If you enjoy, consider giving her a vote in the Ms. /co/ thread.

>>150348508In case you don't know, this Teen Titans line-up included Donna Troy (Wonder Girl) and Kid Flash (who had the hots for Raven)

In case this got you interested in the context of the Wolfman-Perez run, I know an anon has been doing storytimes for the last month, you'll find it if you search up subject "New Teen Titans" on Desuarchive. If you enjoyed, you can vote for Raven (and Starfire too) in Ms. /co/: >>150347885If Raven makes it to the next round, I'll storytime something else with her tomorrow.
Good to see the original comics get some love.
>>150348890>casually destroys a planet
>>150349031Thanks, OP.
>>150348452I always feel like Raven's lore with Azarath is very underused in modern Titans comics.
>>150348477>>150348930Those psychedelic visuals are really awesome
>>150348452I always find it weird that Raven and Wally's pairing was kinda a thing.
>>150353746It's only weird in the modern context, back then it was just the direction they happened to choose for the characters for a while
Bump
>>150348508Eyebrows on fleek
>>150354021It's also that Wolfman never really got to finish his original intended story for Wally and Raven (that Wally and her had a past together, but she had to erase his memory prior to NTT and the manipulation Zatanna sensed was just her trying to bring his memories back). He kinda did it Ina Legends of the DC Universe, but I doubt many people read that.
Interesting how this ends on an anti-climax,I expected Raven to heroically resist Trigon's temptation, but I guessthat was something reserved for "modern day" Raven to do
>>150348452Based.
>>150348452that art is total quality.
>>150348452neat
>>150348452>>150348463>those legsNice
>>150351761A lot of aspects are. Titans books are accused of only remembering Wolfman/Perez, but in truth they only seem to remember Deathstroke and Trigon
>>150356345Now was this romance intended to be rapey or romantic? With Wolfman it's either one or the two
>>150348673Azar the original lady legasus.
>>150351761They'd rather pretend Trigon is the 8th devil of Hell and flatten the lore out, and even Wolfman got on with revisionist history what the reboots and deboots.
>>150356345He tried to find ways to get DC to let him revisit the NTT cast, only to never be greenlit.Raven no longer being a gold ghost in the 9/11 special was meant to be canon and was written by him, and he explained he had pitched a story to tell how she got reset back to her original self but editorial turned it down. He's kept the details secret still iirc.
>>150348529I prefer Wally and Raven over her with Beast Boy.
>>150363025The 9/11 specials are funny because everybody else was clearly avoiding having any superheroes actually show up, meanwhile Wolfman went "eh fuck it, I'm gonna make my 9/11 story about the OC I created in the 80s".(Based though)
>>150348540Trigon looks like he is face fucking Raven's mom.
>>150350267Literally just by looking at it.
>>150362995Trigon got retconned as actually being from hell in N52
>>150348558>His seed had been planted.I bet.
>>150348452Hey this is actually the same image used for her nomination.
>>150369007Geoff Johns beat the N52 to it in his TT vol3 run by claiming Trigon was the devil of the 8th layer of Hell. It made his biggest hater Dumas see red among his tl;dr nitpicks (and some valid points) on how Johns was an evil hack.
