I agree about how odd Bobby's relationship with Connie is. I get that they wanted to reuse characters, but the guy is doing great. He's become his own person, pursuing his passion, and has a great relationship with his parents. Bobby's other romances show that he's an attractive and confident guy, but Connie being a ghost of childhood or proof that he "failed" in anyway or that his running is own restaurant isn't as great as going to college is just fucking odd. Bobby having a restaurant at his age is insane and something that a show known for it's realistic portrayal and sometimes celebration of blue collar workers should make it a much bigger deal and success than it's shown to be

To be fair it's Chane's restaurant that Bobby co-owns because he suggested to Chane he take a massive pay cut in return. Chane only owns it because his dad made him because he wants him to be a businessman.
But yeah them forcing Connie as endgame is lame since the show pretty decently had a satifying conclusion to their relationship and it was only ever brought back up for this exact kind of drama like the Tid Pao episode only works if Connie has some feelings but then it's irrelevant again.

Honestly everything with the female characters and plot lines feels off. Peggy is just kind of there being crazy and ignored, although I have no idea what she could do aside from volunteer at a school. Connie just feels one part wunderkind and one part trainwreck, which I get that wunderkind was part of her definition as a kid. However, if they wanted a really nuanced take then they would have gone with how a number of Asian kids that get heavily pushed into studying by their parents end up not really being all that smart, just studying more, or just collapsing the moment their parents aren't constantly dictating what they do with every second of their life. She's just an up-aged version of the same kid with filial piety issues, which is kind of boring. Saying she's dual majoring as EE and ME is just fucking silly and something that both department's advisors would tell her is fucking stupid. The male influencer episode was just too shallow. When everyone is actually helping each other they all mention things that were never revealed. They could have cut a lot of the physical training stuff and really leaned into the mental and emotional aspects of it and been more impactful IMO

Yeah I also thought Bobby seemed a bit regretful but he handled that part with the college students well in the first episode which really shows he grew up to be able to roll with the punches and stick up for himself gracefully as needed. I noticed college kids seem to be more of an antagonistic group in this season especially if you take Chane to be representative of all their worst parts: a douchebag business major fratbro who spends more time partying than studying while weaponizing his superficial knowledge of therapy and academic speak to sleep around. I'm expecting more of Chane stealing credit for Bobby's work like in the Kahn episode in the next season.
