I only know the versions of Bane from Dark Knight Rises, and Batman Arkham Origins. Is he an entertaining villain in the comics. Which version/storyline of him is the best?
It would’ve been interesting to see the DCEU version of him. I could image he would’ve been super roided up like the Arkham games since Batfleck is buff as hell

I don't think entertaining is the right word, but I always thought his origin story was compelling and that they succeeded in making him intimidating and a good foil to Batman throughout Knightfall. It was believable that he could win.Go read Vengeance of Bane and Knightfall.

>>150367634I really like his original design. There wasna few times where he also wore a cool as fuck jacket, which suits him. Not a big fan of overly complicated masks that are like half-respirators or are metallic.But as a character, Bane is a paradox.He is initially presented as a foil to Batman, someone who is strong enough to toss Bruce around, but also smart enough to concoct good, solid plans and not get clowned on by Batman thinking for like five seconds. Most importantly, he's lucid enough to want to break Batman and focus on that specific goal.Bane is built like a wall, an obstacle that Batman needs to break through decisively. He's a like a boss in a videogame that is designed to force the player to use every mechanic they have to beat him, something that can't be just bruteforced or cheesed. And just like said boss once player gets good and learns to use his arsenal, Bane is rendered harmless and pointless once Batman bests him.Bane has one job and beyond that he has nothing, so no one knows what the fuck to do with him storywise. He's literally too sane to be a proper recurring villain, too ambitious to play a second fiddle, too smart to be a proper henchman and he has no vague goal to pursue that would justify him just existing without immediately gunning for Batman. That's why he has zero good stories outside of Knightfall, and every adaptation either makes him a pathetic brainlet (or makes him a galaxy-brained mary sue) or just copies Knightfall. It's a shame.
