ne zha: 1h 50 minutes
ne zha 2: 2h 24 minutes

do you think ne zha 3 might hit the 3 hours mark? they have the budget and audience for it, and there's a lot of characters or plot points they could cover in it as the finale to the trilogy/series
(fight against wuliang, shen gongbao and the curse, the other three dragon kings, muzha and jinzha, lady shiji, ne zha's feelings after his mother died, ao bing finding out he attacked his teacher's dad, ne zha and ao bing's relationship, deero and crana, deero being a former student of shengong bao)

I watched Ne Zha 2 yesterday. It was fun in the same way Kung Fu Panda or HTTYD are, mixing slapstick and a bit of gross humor with cool fights and "darker" subplots like wars, death and genocide, but honestly it wasn't something that I would rewatch every tine it airs on TV or that I would pay multiple times to watch in theaters. There are other Chinese films that I find better.

Glad you gave it a chance and had some fun with it!

Great watch, would recommend. Not a semblance of woke in it but instead, stellar animation with insane choreography and the callbacks the fighters make to spells they've previously used and properly introduced is really cathartic and a special highlight to me, although I'd probably need a second watch because I legit had trouble keeping up with the story because of how rapidly everything was unfolding, but it could just be my ADHD acting up.

The wuiling villain reveal was okay, I guess, it respected my intelligence, but it felt a bit too cliché to me, specially with how overused the good leader/role model turns out to be LE BAD ALL ALONG trope is already in western entertainment, it felt like reliving the awful Disney twist villain era , and like those, it was a pointless reveal that changed little to absolutely nothing to the story, only ao bing's master seemed affected but he is literally killed off right after, what's even the point of caring about anything the side characters are going through if they'll just be used as motivational cannon fodder for the protagonists to have stronger reasons to want to beat the bad guy with? Wasn't I supposed to sympathize with the demon characters and bond with them to relate to their side? If so, introducing them to quickly dismiss them for the big fights made that just unfeasible, thus, making it extra difficult to care about the main conflict of this whole movie. At some point, I was just watching for the spectacle and the main duo since it's what this movie lazer focuses on at the cost of the side characters.

I'm REALLY hoping they try to take their time with the world and the characters in it in the next movie, because as it stands, it's just a shonnen anime disguised as a movie with none of the benefits of a long running series. I'd still recommend it, but not for the same experience of the first movie.

Ao Bing's master/Shen gongbao is still alive in the post credits. So is his Shen Gongbao's father.

The Wuliang thing makes me wonder what they're building up to. Usually every villain in this series has their reason for doing things, and in Wuliang's case it's preparing for the upcoming deification war. I don't know what that is though. Apparently the Jiang Ziya movie shows it, but I haven't seen it yet

Oh shit, right. I can't believe I forgot about that, my mistake.

>Disney twist villain
At least Wuliang is going to last longer than one movie so we'll see the consequences of it

If ne zha 2 had 138 animation studios across China making it, how did they prevent leaks?

what percentage of the runtime do you think will be dedicated to fight scenes for the third movie?

if it's 3 hours long, and they spend 10 minutes for gay sex in the middle of the movie, and another 10 minutes for the post credits, then 0.11%.

i mean 11%.

Wtf I watched it it's not that long
The original 80s one is barely an hour

No? Chinese are incapable of empathy

Look it up on youtube. You can see the full film is 1 hr and 50 minutes long, including credits.
Without it it's still 1 hour and 43 minutes long.

I was actually surprised by the twist. It was pretty well done.

I think the reason they don't try to make you sympathize with demons is that it's already understood in the xianxia context. Demons are beings implied to be that way because they are bad and karma makes them be reborn like that. But they can ascend by cultivating and improving themselves.

Would you want Ne Zha to get a new look or outfit? I remember someone on /toy/ thought he'd get a new superpowered form sometime in the third movie

New outfit.
Dunhuang outfit
>>
How much of the myth do they have available to cover? They already got past the part where Ne Zha dies and is resurrected.
