He was designed with one of the most generic designs in his class because he was meant to be a background character with little discernable traits or niche he served to speak random filler dialogue without needing to worry about if it would be in character or establish something. It took 11 seasons for them to finally do an episode giving him focus, The List, and then the lineup after that was awkward. The lice episode, the pirate episode, and the toilet episode. It would then be ten seasons before he got another one in the ChatGPT episode. At least Token Black always had the niche of being the token black kid for racial episodes and got his first focus episode 2 seasons after his first speaking role. I'm not saying Clyde has no traits now, but a lot of what he gets doesn't get the best treatment. Him being Bebe's boyfriend was a gag for the end of Clubhouses but ended up being something brought up again and mattering in his first focus episode and something they eventually decided to keep with even another episode about it, but Bebe has rarely mattered since classic South Park. He's a consistent member of Craig's gang, but by the time that group appeared, the show was already changing to its more topical social commentary, and the group didn't get to do much, while Craig is also no longer allowed to exist anymore as anything but Tweek's butt buddy. South Park is also at a point where it doesn't need filler dialogue characters anymore with all the characters it has now and even struggles to give once main characters screentime. I don't want Clyde to die because he's a legacy character, but Trey does not give a damn about South Park's legacy considering what he says about the early seasons.
