Why are goth characters so prominent in cartoons when they basically don't exist in IRL?
>>
>when they basically don't exist in IRL?
Proof?
>>
They're a fun archetype that's easy to insert and write
>>
>>150389944
not only fun, they are easy and predictable, normies loves that
>>

Ive heard goths went extinct after 2015
The sexualization of goths was the final nail in the coffin.
>>
>>150389879
There was a mass extinction event but I remember the days when the graceful goth grazed the plains of the local hot topic.

Goths and their ubiquitous appearance in media were last prominent in the 00's. But times changes, fashion trends come and go, subcultures evolve or possible fizzle out. You're probably too young to have seen it if that's what you think. Don't worry, you'll see something you grew up with fade out eventually and the next generation doesn't get it. it'll happen to you, too.

The few that do exist are art majors or knew art majors.
That’s why you see a lot of them from the creators of these animated shows.
>>
>>150389896
The only ones who exist now are the fat ones
>>
>>150389879
Cartoonists are horny and goth chicks are hot so they insert them to their cartoons
>>
They existed when the people who were making cartoons in the early 2000s were children. In 30 years we will probably get cartoons with token tranny characters.
>>
They are walking jokes just like emos

If you're old and born before 1985 you had 1 to 3 goth in your classroom at least in big cities.
Plus many lost their virginity with the fat goth chic with issues (in my case she introduced me to my actual wife and both lose v card with her) many of those goths were more slut than Stacy's

Cartoons are made by adults (manchildren or otherwise), and very often horny adults at that. Goths were big the 80s and 90s and various other flavors of "alt girl" have come and gone in the decades since. Obviously, if you have someone with creative freedom over a property, they're in some way going to insert their interests and preferences into it, and often that means references and interests that are, relative to the intended audience, quite old.

Similar reason to why Spongebob and other (relatively) modern cartoons occasionally referenced old movies, like Peter Lorre.

To be fair, even Gen Alpha kids know what goths and emos and scene girls are, because of cultural osmosis and because they're becoming popular again.

Is there a difference between goth and gothic?
>>
>>150390295
Trvke!
>>
>>150389879
It's just a fun archetype to have, you can do whatever you want in cartoons, and that includes creating completely unrealistic characters that would probably never exist in real life.
>>
>>150390295
It's sad how true this is. Zoomettes are just ballooning like mad
>>
>>150389969
Nah, it was always sexualized. Its just that the consolidation of the internet culture into mega sites like Twitter killed all subculture.
>>
distinct archetypes tend to be overrepresented in cartoons. in reality most classrooms probably didn't have a single goth kid, just like they didn't have a single greaser but if you're making the archetypal school show you aren't going to leave out those demographics.
>>
>>150389879
I think I've seen exactly one goth girl in my small town (25k) in my life. I did see some scene girls or at least they had that scene girl haircut in high school (2011). "

Girls of /co/ why don't you stop being conformists and dress up like Helena for the month of October? Pretty please! It doesn't have to be revealing either, female "fashion" bores me to tears these days!

Goth's existed back when these guys were kids so they got put into the cartoons they made. It's a holdover from a previous generation
Goths do still exist though, they're just not as prominent and some people are in it solely for the aesthetic
>>
What are goth?
>>
>>150393149
Numerous things, all inferior to Punk to however. Just imagine Emo's but with more testosterone. Adam's family is a good example of what Goth is without going all in on the sterotypical heavy makeup and over the top clothing you see nowadays.
>>
>>150393184
I always thought Goth meant morbid nerds who wete into fancy clothes :/
>>
>>150389879
All adults are goth on the inside
>>
>>150393184
>Punk
literally the biggest faggots on planet earth
gayer than being gay
>>
>>150393149
>favorite color is black
>like dead stuff and death in general
>skulls
>black magic and occult
Stuff like that. There's some overlap with punk, alt, and emo. It's less about personality and more about interests and looks. I think people get too picky about what a goth is or isn't but when it comes to characters, it's made pretty obvious if they are or aren't.

If you are talking new Punk, sure. Old Punk? Different story. At least when you compare it to other music/fashion genres it's top of the fag totem pole.
