Still gets me at the end when they reunite.
>>
>>150397693
why did he do it?

After the heartfelt reunion I was hoping to see the relationship grow in future episodes. But did she ever appear again? I don't remember seeing her again.

I think only in the movie does she make another appearance

To save his daughter. What I think is fascinating or rather strange is how they shy away from saying
>Vietnam
dude has a Vietnamese name and it is super obvious that this is happening in the Vietnam war yet they do not say Vietnam.

Why?
Is it because the time would not match? But then again Hey Arnold plays in the 90s so it should check out.

Another fascinating thing: They NEVER say which city Hey Arnold takes place in.
It is a mix between New York, Seattle where Barlette also lived, Chicago and Portland.
The neighbour even says
>This is why I came to THIS CITY
instead of
>This is why I came TO NEW YORK
or something like that.
Anyway in that episode Arnold says
>I can't believe all moon boots are sold out in all of NEW YORK
This is what he says in the GERMAN dub and I am wondering why they took the liberty to insert New York into their translation. I could not find the English version anywhere to compare what Arnold says there. It is just odd that they would insert a city name when it is not in the original episode.
So can someone tell me what he might say there?

Also what is the deal with the Spumoni lore?
Like you have Dino Spumoni, the singer and then you also have Nancy Spumoni who sells moon boots. WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DEAL WITH Spumoni in the Hey Arnold universe?

Spumoni seems to be the ACME of Hey Arnold.

It actually canonically takes place in Washington. The city is a sort of "What if the West Coast had a city as big as NYC?" If you pay attention there are even multiple episodes where the sun sets into the sea.

My grandfather's friend was also at the fall of saigon, and on the last helicopter out.

It's just a funny Italian name and a retro-ish dessert.

To save her from communism.

But she is referenced a few times and I think there's an episode where he's on the phone with her too.

It's crazy how ingrained this Christmas special is in my mind. One of the GOATS for sure

It's an three-layered ice cream. Chocolate, cherry, and pistachio. Basically an alternative to Neapolitan's chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. Used to be extremely popular in the US but nowadays you'll only really find it at sit-down Italian restaurants or in cities that still have big Italian populations like NYC and Chicago.
