Family Guy

South Park.
>>
Somehow it's Family Guy and American Dad

Simpsons was amazing for 1-8 season, 9-16 dying but good, 17-20 watchable.
Family guy was funny for 1-7 seasons, and fine 8-10, everything after that is miserable
South park wasn't even good until season 4, then it was from 5-12, with 13-16 being fine.
So I would say Family guy has had it worst. Simpsons lasted as long as it could and south park is bad but it's on purpose.

From least seasonal rot to most:

Family Guy > Simpsons > South Park

why is south park s1-3 so polarizing
I guess it's very different from the rest of the series, but I thought it was kinda cute and quaint. Kinda like the town itself (?)
and let's not forget both chef aid and the movie had come out before s4

If memory serves right, they leaned more on "lolrandom", which was great too.
Idk, the indie feel it had is valuable in itself

It's weird because I don't hate seasons 1-3 but it's almost the equivalent to watching Newgrounds shorts in the 90's. Like there's funny moments sure but it was hardly even a show and an extremely hard watch for people who didn't grow up with them. Season 4 is when I think the show actually became good because trying to show anyone an earlier season usually ends with them being bored.

Agreed 100%

Yeah, you do have a point. I guess the appeal is just not as large as with the later seasons.

South Park, no question.

Family Guy is the closest to its original self compared to the other two, the show just wasn’t really that good in the first place, though South Park is the only one of the three that I still tune into new episodes for cause I feel like it’s modern seasons are pretty hit or miss.

I'd argue that the South Park movie was a second pilot that shifted the show more towards satire. It even reintroduces the main cast, their dynamics, and acts as an origin story for the boys' swearing.

We gotta keep in mind that while seasons 1-3 aren’t really anything special today, they were pretty groundbreaking for the time, they were made at a time when The Simpsons was considered edgy, and were considered incredibly obscene for television standards back then. There were celebrities getting pissed off at their portrayals, Christians being offended, people were banning South Park shirts from schools, there’s a reason the early seasons were so popular.

Many edgy Flash cartoons of the 90’s and 2000’s also took heavy influence from South Parks edginess, you can’t convince that Pico School with its artstyle and controversial subject matter wasn’t South Park-inspired.

That makes a ton of sense, given it was intended as a swan song for the series

Family Guy only got better. Same with American Dad. South Park was good until season 20 and has only now rebounded in this newer season, with only cultists being pissy about it. The Simpsons has it pretty bad but so did South Park. I think The Simpsons started going downhill after the movie. But I don't think you can really point to one episode. The principal and the popper was actually a pretty good episode.

The newer seasons of The Simpsons honestly aren’t bad but definitely has it the worst

Family Guy’s seasonal rot was mainly in the early 2010s

South Park has remained relatively consistent, the only true “flop” season was the 2016 election season that completely threw away the themes of the season because it hinged on Trump losing.

This. The better they are, the more it hurts when they get worse. Like how it happened with MLP:FiM.
