If there's one non-classic Thor design that should've stuck, it's this.
In terms of coolness, it's what black suit is to Spider-Man.

What's really interesting is that the 1995 redesign was basically just riffing on the truly forgotten late 80's/early 90's redesign. take away the feathers, make the blue into black and the yellow into blue
>>
I oppose any design of Thor with a beard because it makes him look too much like Odin. You need to save it for those Allfather Thor stories.
>>
>>150406610
There's too much shit on him, the copiel design simplified the idea of "what if costume but armor" in time for it to become the movie default and by the time they did the Jurgens suit in 4 it was enough to show it doesn't really work

Although of course it was the least of the things that didn't work in that movie so it's all relative

inb4 Peter's last stand suit, because that costume is uninspired, generic, edgy trash that has nothing to do with Spider-Man

He hated the "kidnapped" guy because he represents everything Karnak has been denied (and has denied himself). He wants to think of himself as an underdog who had to work harder than anyone else because his gifts came from training rather than genetics or the terragen mist, so he really hates the guy who can give you anything you want for free. The entire story is about how Karnak presents himself as superior because he sees that everyone else is flawed, but at the same time he's in deep denial about his own flaws and adopts nihilism more as a shield than as a legitimate philosophy. Because of this he doesn't just bring the guy back like he was supposed to, he doesn't just neutralize his powers like he says he did, but he deliberately gives him brain damage and makes him retarded just because he can't deal with some random guy being superior to him without even having to work for it. Throughout the story the only thing he seems to enjoy is when he's "proving" his superiority, either by being a condescending jerk to people or by beating the sit out of them, but it's the kind of false superiority that stems from insecurity, not from innate value. This is clearly shown by how triggered he gets every time people start to question his supposed superiority.

The final page is ambiguous but IMO Karnak's reaction could signify two things. One, he realizes that he was in the wrong. Like a coward he chose violence against easy targets, rather than facing his own flaws. Two, throughout these issues Karnak asserts multiple times that life and love are meaningless. But after essentialy having destroyed a happy family just to satisfy his own ego, he realizes that this is nonsense and that his nihilism and false superiority have only served to isolate him from the things that matter.
>>
>>150406892
Adult Gert was great. Really wish they'd kept using her. It gave the book a sense of continuity, now it's more like a book where you can read the issues in random order because every issue is completely self contained.

Close. I should've been more specific. I meant to say Superman's Green Lantern suit, but it's from the same comic as your image of Kyle Reyner. Pic related: the Key put the JLA in fake dream worlds to use the chemicals produced by their brains to reach higher levels of consciousness. It was fun.

You know, without the context of the word balloons, it looks like they're all just acting disgusted with Wonder Woman, and she's just unamused, glaring at them.

Oh I see. I need to re-read those any day. WW looks like Deanna Troi from New Generation here.
>>
>>150429554
It was fun. Morrison's dialogue can be weird, and he tries to cram a lot into a single page with his artist, but he had a lot of fun ideas in his JLA run. Wonder Woman in that issue was made to resemble how she looked during her weird mod era in the 70's but was dreaming she was on an adventure with Steve Trevor out of something from the 70's TV series. Lot of stuff like that in those two issues. I think it was JLA #8 and #9.

God the 90s were weird. Wasn’t that also when Strange got split in two for a year or something?

Paying my taxes with Namor, I think a lot of the newer suits are a bit awkward. They got him right on the second try and should have left it at that.
>>
>>150429765
I feel the same way. Feels like the subtle differences made it stand out way more than the second version, which was way too obviously supervillain.
>>
>>150429765
I love how much thought went into this suit like the eyes being emotionless, the retractable claws, more aggressive back spider, and the mask having a kinda face.

I even like the weird boots desu. They make some sense to me besides having another built in claw, like they help him stick to walls better or something. Also I’m a sucker for Spidey in red and black
>>
>>150429765
This. The first Superior Spider-Man suit was goated. The second Superior Spidey suit is overrated and derivative of Alex Ross's concept art. The first is unique and precise with what it's going for. It looks like a Spidey that wants to be taken seriously, a grown-up scheme from the original blue and red suit's blueprint. It was a meticulous Spidey costume.

God, I've always loved this suit. Arkham Knight was based for including it, even if the end result missed the entire point of the design. Really makes me want a short anime with this look specifically.
>>
>>150434416
Yeah Arkham Knight's version was a case of not just militarizing it like the Flashpoint or Beyond suit but not even basing it on the animation. They used a statue designed by a western guy loosely based on this costume. Wasn't even designed by the studio who made Field Test. DC/WB have terrible cooperation with Japan whenever they do crossovers. Like the dub situation with Batman Ninja. How do you not coordinate with the studio to give you a translated script?!

Brian Azarello gets a lot of love for his Batman designs, but I've always adored his Robins. The man can "modernize" and tacticool them while still being undeniably Batman & Robin.

The lightning on the arms being the same as Barry's always bothered me. If the lightning on the waist was like Barry's in that it's circular and spinning, I would not mind as much. However, the lightning on Wally's is more "V" shaped, and the arms' lightning bolts don't match. Some artists change it, like in the DCAU where they flow downward with the waist's lightning, but others, like the one you posted, get it wrong. Other than that, it really is a sick design, and the small change of covering the nose is somehow a stroke of genius.

It's Kryptonian attire. The white is supposed to be like ruffled fabric. After Crisis on Infinite Earths rebooted everything, this is what the Kryptonians were supposed to look like since Byrne's Man of Steel miniseries. It's now no longer specifically the canon look of the two, but it was for a long time.
