It’ll be just like how modern SpongeBob had "A Fish Called Sandy" which was made to look like a season 1 episode

Since the shows animation evolved so much it’ll be interesting for them to do something artistically experimental like this

It looks as much like classic SpongeBob as Halo CE Anniversary looked like Halo CE.

The newer style is mostly for time constraints I imagine. Doing actual papercraft would take too long with how tight their schedule is, so it'd probably have to be a special or something.

They stopped doing real papercraft after 1 episode. They can still 3d model the paper, just.. less.
But I don't endorse OPs point. The creators can't simply revert to their old style and recapture any of their old charm.

Only the pilot episode was actually papercraft anon, rest of the original seasons were done digitally to look like papercraft. The above art style is objectively more laborious than the bottom using the same tools.
