The MGM shorts produced by Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising were on a par with Disney from an animation standpoint. But the more you watch, the more you realize that Harman and Ising were still stuck imitating Disney or relying on dated formula.

From an entertainment standpoint, Fleischer Studios blew them out of the water and Warner Bros./Schlesinger were gaining on them.
