Ya'll ready to learn the Code of the West?
If'n ya read, kindly give a bump.
>>150425029As the Code Of The West says: You fuck around, you're gonna find out.
For a Naccelleverse comic its...not shitty so far.
>>15042502Have a thread theme, OPhttps://youtu.be/kgizT7q3ek0?si=NPGM7NPcO8DyRiPh
What are the odds that this is Marey?
That's all for now
Pleasantly surprising.
>>150425029Bumpin
>>150425470>>150425461Very cute Lily. underrated waifu.
>>150425029Oh, interesting
>>150425029This is actually pretty well drawn
>>150425153Wait, so this cow boy society is old enough to have built entire schools that taught this great background event, but young enough for Milf Horse here to have lived through it? This timeline is all sorts of wonky.
>>150428716I think they have extended lifespans. The narration did say something about centuries later.>>150428546Reminds me of Jurassic League.
>>150428875They mean centuries before Power Lords, Biker Mice, and all the other Nacelle lines.
>>150428716I thought it was fairly young.
>>150425029COMET RAISED THE MESA TO THE WESTERN SKIES
>>150425309Whoa, they got tall rabbit chicks now? Rabbits were short in the cartoon, and all I saw were dudes.
>>150425029Oh I get it. It's a male cow, cow boy. He's also dressed as a cowboy. Pretty funny, funny stuff.
>>150425603Jesus, does this comic take place after like a 5 year time skip from the TV show? Cuz Cowlarado was the scrawny one. Now he's built like a fucking brick shithouse
>>150430217Looks more like an AU.
>>150430217I think it is just the art style, and it looks like a reboot
>>150425561>>150425587I find Terrorbull interesting here. He's in cahoots with the obviously corrupt mayor, but he does seem genuinely invested in doing his job. He's just a reckless asshole about it.For anyone in the know about this series is he supposed to be the Raph of the group? Because that's the impression I got so far.
>>150425098My cans! My precious antique cans! What have you done to em?!
>>150431067It's been a while since I saw the cartoon, but Terrorbull was a villain there.
>>150425603strong enough startI'll keep my eye on this one>>150430217I assumed it was taking place before the show or something
>>150425029This is the best storytime in a while and it's a toyshit comic
I love westerns!
>there are variant covers by Ryan Brown and Pat SpazianteDamn. Who’s my LCS had them.
Is the videogame any good?
>>150434407You ever play Sunset Riders?
>>150425202They messed up the speech bubble in the middle panel there.
>>150425202Wait, wait, wait. So the comet killed the humans, but uplifted the animals?
>>150434407Yes, it's the best thing to come out of the IP.
>>150435268It "moo-tated" all the animals. How it affected mankind has never been touched on. But considering the mesa is large enough to house several cities, a rail way system, multiple bodies of water, and a bunch of deep mines, there might not be much left of America for humans anyway.
>>150425029Silly
You know. Imagine growing up in 90s. Each day, each year new properties and franchises. Some of them stay, some of them go. But even the more obscure franchises still leaving some mark and fond memories. Like the shortliving Moo Messa cartoon, along with that arcade game I used to play (and lose money on). Now almost 30 years later, you randomly see this little obscure cartoon getting a comic book out of nowhere. Just because. I don't know if I should be amused, or depressed. It's as if the good old times died with 9/11, and everything afterwards was a horror reality mess that you can't escape. I don't think there is a single franchise being created right now that will ever have a comic book 20 years from now. It's as if creativty was cock-blocked by nostalgia, older properties because it was not only cheap, because even at its worst it not only has more recognition, but also imagination and creatitivity. If you told me back in the 90s, when I was hopefull and looking forward for the future, I would have never believed you. And here I am, almost 30 years later, depressed to hell and back, and wanting to fall asleep and never wake up again. I hate myself and I want to fucking die
>>150425029B cover is the best one
>>150436813It was the Boston bombings, it killed cartoon network.
>>150431067The main group consist of tree cowboys, Montana (leader), Cowlorado kid (Michelangelo) and Dakota Dude (the blue bull)The video game made Buffalo Bull playable too, he is this brown one >>150425367
>>150437191there was to 90s than cartoon network. I was a fox kids guy. Remember Eerie Indiana?
>>150425355>root beerAh, it's like KND all over again.
>>150425603Strong start, like the art and characters. Huh... neat. I remember seeing toys for this at my bowling alley years back.
>>150437191Maybe for CN, but 9/11 really was that turning point, sure the attacks happened here in the US alone, but dam, everyone was affected across the globe in the smallest ways.
>>150425063Karl Bollers? THAT Karl Bollers?
>>150431067He's a bad guy, only playing the hero role for the money of it all.
>>150437868Yes, that Karl.
>>150437952Wow. Small world.
>>150437361Fox Kids became Jetix, it had a good run
>>150425029>>150427559https://files.catbox.moe/npeyqo.pngIndeed, I wonder if Sadie will show up sometime soon.
>>150437952That is insane. Cool to see he's moved on to much better things since then.
>>150425029>>150425603Thanks for posting the COWboys, like Bucky O' hare and others like it, brings back many memories on the tube and the arcades in the 90s.
>>150438985Most of the cast already appeared
/co/ sucks, but the comic part is always far superior, so you get a big bump!
>>150425063>Karl BollersHe moved on up since the Archie Sonic days
>>150435268The comet strike caused a huge mesa to be formed and raised far above the ground. All the humans evacuated before impact, but didn't have time to save their livestock. Nearly every animal on the mesa was mutated into a humanoid form.
>>150441974Or its a Planet of the Apes thing and mankind abandoned North America to the bovines.
>>150430152Got another one for ya: C.O.W.boys. Code Of the West
>>150425029Normal western, but horse people!
>>150425230>>150425246A pretty good fake out death
Here come the Cow Boys! MOOOOOOOve over, TMNT!
>>150442060Nah, they're already part of the TMNT multiverse, its fine.
>>150442083>they're already part of the TMNT multiverseReally?
>>150443120Yes.
>>150443140Really. (Although this one is kinda cheating since its just a virtual simulation, not a true crossover).
>>150442083>>150443120>>150443140The guy that created the show also did art for the TMNT comics.
>>150443185And created Leatherhead.
>>150425230>Make the guns from the show actually deadly.
I like it. I never saw the cartoon growing up but I may check it out after reading this. Are any of the other books from this series worth checking out? The only property I recognize is Biker Mice from Mars.
>>150443140Neat.
>>150443359>>150425029They grew up with they're audience. They can take more chances with the property in comic form by raising the stakes further. So who knows what else they'll do in Mesa now that almost nothing's off the table as a safeguard.
>>150437822Found it, dunno why they had these at a bowling alley, but hey, a free toy with food and bowling, kid me loved it.
Never watched the cartoon but I had pic related book as a kid.
>>150445431That's actually based on one of the episodes. if you ever wondered what Bat Blastagun was supposed to sound like, it's Neil Ross doing his Jack Nicholson impression.
>>150425603I'm impressed at how much it kept tone of the show even with the "we can actually hurt each other" element a comic book brings. Characters feel on point that I can easily hear the voice actors doing their bits, and even the originals like Amore-Dillos and Dark Horse feel in line with the way the show works. No saving Mary's face though. The cartoon would never have given a girl such a long face.
>>150441991It's LITERALLY in the theme song, man. It's Texas, maybe a couple surrounding states and probably a big chunk of Mexico as well.https://youtu.be/kgizT7q3ek0?si=kooO3H8RovlzDT4v
>>150445269>>150445431Man, they really wanted this to be the next TMNT. Though at least with this I can see why, as strange as it is conceptually it does seem to have a lot more going for it than most TMNT clones.
>>150446405Helped it had one of the guys who worked on the Archie TMNT comics working on it so it has less of a "shameless ripoff" feel to it
>>150443196Very interesting.
>>150447738Also Hothead, Scratch, Monty Moose, King Lionheart, Halfcourt, Wyrm, Scumbug, Doctor El, Wingnut, Ray Fillet, Sandstorm, Mondo Gecko, and that weird toy where Michelangelo is a farmer riding a tractor.
>>150446405>it does seem to have a lot more going for it than most TMNT clones. As long as a toyline show was willing to tell a good story, it passed the mark. In terms of Extreme Dinosaurs and Street Sharks, they could have worked on or towards their plot more.
>>150446405It probably just arrived a couple decades late. When western was a bigger deal, it might have been bigger than TMNT.>>150445269That sound like all sorts of win at once, yeah.
>>150443185He sound based or take some advantages.
>>150438985I can't into her face
>>150434166Here's what they look like.
>>150450371
>>150450371I think it is funny how they also have different horn designs
>>150450371Wow, straight out of the early 90s.
>>150450383Another Archie Sonic alum. Small world indeed.
>>150425029C.O.W. BUMP!
>>150425497For those wondering why "Dark Horse" instead of perhaps "Iron Horse", that name already has been claimed by something else in the franchise.
>>150430217>>150432183The comic's establishing things as Moo Montana's first day in town, so it's clearly set before the events of the show (as Terrorbull is still a deputy and not the town's sheriff yet). Nothing has been established yet that would make that not line up, with the exception of Marey's role as Sheriff. The show had Sheriff T-Bone as the only one mentioned as training Moo, and when Moo returns to his hometown T-Bone is still acting sheriff with no replacement really lined up until the episode's end.Of course, if they're playing to the "Marey is Dark Horse" angle then naturally that can be all handwaved as T-Bone picking up the mantle again because she can't be sheriff anymore either. Either way, no real cow-ntinuity snarls yet.
>>150452294Watch out, he's got B E A N S.
>>150452294Looks like a Warhammer 40K rejected model.
>>150452391>>150452533>40k but everyone is throwing cans of beans at each other
I like the issue but I still dont get the backstory of the world. If furrys suddenly became real wouldnt some humans out there try to get some.
>>150452584The backstory is Moo Mesa's weakest part to the point that the cartoon barely acknowledges it. Effectively,>comet passes over the wastes of the wild west>lifts up a massive mesa>some (but not all) of the animals on the mesa mutate thanks to the comets energy into anthro, who now live in a thematic wild west lifestyleSo everything is isolated from the rest of the world but the mesa is sprawling enough that there's plenty of towns and rivers and whatever else they need for the setting.tl;dr: you're not supposed to think about it
>>150452584>>150452782I believe, when we least expect it, the comic later on will piecemeal some of the comets events before and after from old notes or down over in the lower levels of the Mesa that hint at other hairless walks of life that were or still present .
>>150425497>>150452294Kinda seems like they merged the characters together. Which is a shame because Iron Horse by himself is sick as hell.
>>150425153So what happened to her kid?
>>150455719He stayed a normal horse
>>150441974>All the humans evacuated before impactTo where?>The Code of the West is this book left behind by the humans that all the mutated animals used as the template for societyI'm good with that
>>15045577810 bucks says she's the one kidnapping people to figure out a way to moo-tate him.
>>150455719he's a normal horse and she rides him around, like how Odin rides his own grandchild into battle
>>150456049The solicit for issue 4 does say Dark Horse’s ultimate goal is to moo-tate everyone…
>>150456353HA, pay me!
What if she's the one in the suit?!?!
Maybe I'm just too accustomed to TMNT porn but I don't get the appeal of the artstyle which everyone appreciates apparently
>>150458076For what its worth this art style is kinda different from the show.
>>150458076I'm not big on the art style, but it looks incredible on the big bara men. Maybe there lies the rub...
>>150456245Well that's fucked.
>>150445431I wish there was a readcomicsonline style site for kids books like that.
I've always liked this show's anthro designs and this comic drew them very well. Thanks for dumping OP.
