It's introduced a fuckton of characters but Wally mostly has just run past them for now while running from his dad, whatever is being set up with fem Thawne and Barry seems interesting but it's taking a while to even get to that. Partly because Wally's a kid still, I really think there'll be a timeskip across the board in the Absolute titles at some point. The writers have mentioned being more inspired by manga storytelling, for better or worse, and IIRC cited some popular shounen manga. A big timeskip is a pretty standard shounen manga thing...
