If there's one positive thing I can say about MotU and Thundercats is that the writing staff did want to leave genuine good messages and morals to kids watching even if the former had animators dislike the experience due to how restrictive it was
The Sunbow cartoons had fun episodes though I think ARAH is the better show than Transformers

They were amazing for their day, they went way above and beyond what was necessary to sell the toys, and in so doing, -made you want the toys more- because now you want to act out those epic storires.
They were MASSIVELY held back by both censorship and a general attitude of 'meh it's for kids, we can't get TOO complicated here' even by the writers who respected kids most and tried to put some maturity in from time to time.. and the networks cranked down on them hard for any kind of like, continuity. and they had to churn episodes out among like 10 studios at once, so they couldn't very well introduce any new details that would upset the status quo and screw up the other 9 episodes.. But even so, even with that bit of childishness, the 80s stuff endures because it has so much potential. 90s stuff endures because of excellent and mature writing, and, in other cases where that's absent, refining the somewhat mindless 80s formula to be just cooler. But this was always the springboard. The thing that freed kids from watching nothing but recycled animation of teens solving mysteries.

like there had to people poking holes in that even back then. I loved the Beavis and Butt-head where they end up bursting a septic line trying to strike oil after watching Beverly Hillbillies. Kinda reminds you that mindless, unsupervised imitation is something you'll never be able to file the sharp corners off of.
