He's not that bad
>>150435698What's with this half-assed attempt to push 00s era Marvel lately, are things that bad that people think 00s nostalgia would work at this time or are they thinking the Outrage Youtube channels will flock back to comics if they were written like 00s era Marvel
>>150435717Who said I was talking about Marvel
>>150435717I'll take edgefests over "anti-dark" hopeslop like Fraction Batman. There needs to be a balance and I think comics could use a slight edge again
>>150435698Is that the guy what licks goats
>is the reason why white Nick Fury doesn’t exist anymore this idiot can go fuck himself
>>150435698He's a cool guy, but his comics suck.
>>150435698>a few issues of Superman adventures>starlightThose are the only good comics he’s written. More than king, bendis, Taylor, Aaron, Russell, KSD, fraction, etc sure but not exactly stellar.
>>150435840No, Millar just intended for that Fury to be in the Ultimate universe. Aaron is the reason white Nick Fury doesn't show up anymore. Ennis and Hickman wrote white Fury for years after Ultimates
>>150435717I don't know about other writers, but the reason Millar is getting a boost is because he's anti-woke, so we have to pretend he's a good writer/
>>150435698Civil War sucked then and it still sucks now it also laid the groundwork for One More Day. >Millar also went on record stating Iron Man was morally, ethically and objectively correct about all the shit he pulled in CWI.
>>150435717>stop posting things i don't like!!
>>150435717Early to mid 00s were unironically the second best era of comics after the 1980s.
>marvel anything>goodL
>>150435985>Millar also went on record stating Iron Man was morally, ethically and objectively correct about all the shit he pulled in CWI.He's not entirely wrong tho. The Superhero Registration Act was like the Patriot Act of the Marvel universe: a necessary lesser evil to stop a greater evil.
>>150436477no. eat shit
>>150435698I like his Superman Adventures, but that's it.
>>150436477>Early to mid 00s No way. Too few good comics during that time.
>>150435698I appreciate him because he's only one of the only openly right wing religious conservatives in mainstream comics right now. To the point where Mark King Baby Waid tried to cancel him over his stance on abortion.
>>150436515
>>150436515>>150435985He was misquoted. What he said was that 'the registration side HAD to win' because changing the status quo would make for better stories with more conflict and tension in them in the future, instead of everything returning to the way it was before. Check the hardback omnibus of Civil War for the quote.
>>150435698Yeah, he's fucking terrible. Literally one of the stupidest mainstream writers I've ever read in terms of pure writing ability.
>>150436477The 00s is basically 90s Xtreme without all the actually good comics that came from the 90s
>>150435698Is he still trying to buddy up with Comicsgaters
>>150435698Not that good either
>>150435840Bendis made Ultimate Nick Fury black, Millar just made him Samuel L Jackson because he was well into his movie pitch eraNow whether that makes him more responsible is also arguable but you might as well blame Sam Jackson for being Sam Jackson
A good plotter that wasn't carried by its artists. But now I feel that the artists have started to carry his writing.
>>150435985he's bri'ish
no relation to Frank Miller?
I love The Ultimates. That is my opinion on Mark Millar.
>>150440636Really good when it comes to character writing. But the plot is kind of bad.
>>150440765The only thing I'd ever change about The Ultimates is keep Thor a crazy guy. Thor being Thor is way too much like 616.
>>150440772Thor is a flower hippie guy. Totally different from the lame white guy in the original series. And it makes sense, even a “conservative” Nazi like Varg is a hippie.
>>150440636I kinda like the idea of nations making their own superhero teams as a result of a genetic arms race. I especially enjoyed the concept of the Liberators as this anti-Ultimates team composed of villains from different countries that aimed to the political top dog.
>>150435698>He's not
>>150440954Even John K came up with this concept. In the 2000s, there was this cynical attitude towards superheroes. In retrospect, it wasn't so bad. Millar kind of predicted how celebrities and superheroes would be related. Which makes me think of collusion, since Marvel movies were very popular at that time.
>>150435717Nobody knows how to have a genuine conversation anymoreOdds are OP was skimming desuarchive and saw a posting trend from 5 years ago he decided to revive
>>150435698>the crow was sucking cock for a reason!
>>150435698I hate his comics but he has feelings too. I'm mellowing out more as I get older I guess
>>150435717/co/ntrarians hates everything and everyone. The average comics fan seemed to like the blockbuster shit of the 00s to a point, it did piss a bunch of people off too. Some early works of Bendis etc remain recommended by people. But no one talks in any depth about why they dislike or like anything here. So people just post these guys who sold well and others bitch about them.
>>150440954>I kinda like the idea of nations making their own superhero teams as a result of a genetic arms race. The problem is that the Ultimates universe connected fucking EVERYTHING back to the super soldier serum.
>>150435698He's not, he's worse than bad. He's inconsistent. And that's just about the worst thing you can be.
>>150441624I don't think there is any properly consistent creator.
>>150441624Really? I think he's consistently below mediocre for at least the entirety of his lazy movie-pitch phase
>>150441513Some of it is a stretch, but in reality something like the SSS would be on every nation's priority list to recreate. Although I dislike how the Ultimate Universe moved away from its original depiction where becoming Captain America was a long process of surgeries, drug treatments, and physical training because it gave a logical reason why they were all trying different methods to make supersoldiers.
>>150442000My problem with it is it is representative of a kind of narrative device that infected superhero comics along the way. The cheap use of "connections and revelations" in stories which over time would make universes feel small, bad or bland.Project Rebirth 2: Franklin Storm, Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, Richard Parker use Nick Fury's blood to try and make a new SSS. Venom, Green Goblin, Hulk, all end up SSS connected. Okay.. Spider-Man, FF, Ultimates, all connected to this one project. But then all the mutants are connected to the project too because Fury and Wolverine were the original test subjects experimented on and Wolverine was Mutant Zero, combining Fury's experiments with his own DNA. So then all the mutants are essentially a result of this too. Just ahhh.
