>the pilot: a heartwarming story about togetherness, friendship, and imagination. And other imaginary friends might move into the house, and we'd learn about their lives. The actual show: pure chaos.Just look at this promo:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bj0D9Z_0Rvc&pp=ygUaZm9zdGVyJ3MgaG9tZSBzZWFzb24gMSBmdmQ%3D"A place for sheer chaos" contradicts the stuff in the pilot."Home is a place for family, for wonderful memories" is what the show was originally aiming for.
>>150441523Why did Mac imagine a blue dildo
Heartwarming stories about togetherness, friendship and imagination are not (and shouldn't be) Cartoon Network's foray
>>150441539trauma after seeing his mom use one
>>150441523The pilot literally starts with a montage of chaos and has monster creatures called "extreme-asauruses"
Bloo is the Villain of the series.
>>150441523I enjoyed the whole series from the first episode to the last. Even the chaotic parts
>>150441523It’s kinda like a Toriyama’s manga, the characters look cute but aren’t all that wholesome
>>150441630Mac is, he was the one who created Bloo
>>150441523Worst Craig McCracken show
>>150441658Mac wanted Bloo to comfort him, it's not his fault he grew to be such a dick.
It's weird how mean this show feels, maybe it's the cutesy artstyle combined with everyone being a bunch of dicksBilly & Mandy and Ed, Edd n Eddy are also mean but Billy & Mandy's world is already crapsack so it doesn't feel out of the ordinary and Ed, Edd n Eddy feels lightened by the wacky slapstickIt feels like Mac is gonna grow up to be a school shooter
Daily Bloo seethe thread
What is actually wrong with a cartoon being mean spirited?
>>150441833Most of the time it’s just not that entertaining, so what’s the point?
>>150441833Because that is not how the show started and Bloo gets seriously flanderized.
>>150441523Blame the writers for flanderizing Bloo into a total asshole for no good reason.
>>150441539Because he's a pain in the ass.
>>150441833Lower-functioning autists are very predisposed to negativity bias, and also don’t have a strong separation between fiction and reality
>>150441740>>150441655
>>150441910Carlos!
>>150441833gets kind of boring you know?
>>150441833gets boring and >>150441863
>>150441872It was because they wanted it to be like those british comedy sitcoms.worked for them because they were for adults, this does'nt work because its for kids and half of the characters in the show are children and childlike.
>>150441833Frustrating to watch and the characters usually are the victim that dont deserve the abuse.
>>150441833nothing zoomers are just pussies
>>150441833i can only stand "bloo (or insert any character similar) is an asshole again for no reason at all" for so long
>>150441740Billy and Mandy works because literally everyone is shown to be selfish and mean at various points. There's nobody you feel sympathetic towards so it just becomes anything goes. EEnE works because the Eds are literally trying to fucking scam their entire neighborhood out of money and often cause massive chaos as a result, it makes perfect sense for the kids of the cul-de-sac to be weary and gang up on them if one of their scams goes particularly awry.Fosters is a mix of characters that are genuinely just trying to be nice put into situations where other characters are just total assholes, so it doesn't feel deserved when a nice character gets their shit pushed in, framed, etc. Billy gets a black eye and it's funny because just 5 seconds ago he was trying to kill someone with Grim's sword. Double D gets clobbered and it's funny because despite him being the nicest of the Eds he's still a willing accomplice to their plans. Wilt gets framed for something Bloo did and you just feel bad because Wilt's actually nice and thought he was just helping Bloo out.
>>150441740the only moment i felt bad for someone in B&M was irwin during that halloween special
>>150442795>Double D gets clobbered and it's funny because despite him being the nicest of the Eds he's still a willing accomplice to their plans.Edd is also a genuine smug knowitall occassionally. It makes sense that the other kids don't hang out with him, every episode would be like the scavenger hunt one.
>>150442873Edd is the worst of the trio, Eddy is a dick but he's open about it and Ed is a retard but Edd is a smug hypocrite
>>150442795Also another thing is that Foster's is more grounded despite containing imaginary friends so characters being dicks is mostly played straight while in something like SpongeBob, Squidward will often get screwed over but it's done in such an over-the-top way that it can be funny
>>150442795this, specially when mac is doing what he can to not let his friend be adopted but when said friend is a massive cunt most of the time it makes you wonder why he bothers
>>150443082I’m convinced that he keeps going to Fosters to see Frankie.
>>150441523Crazy, absurdist comedy can work only if there exist a certain degree of separation between you and the characters, like you know they are all part of the joke. The problem with Fosters is that it starts off as a series where the core is the friendship between Mac and Bloo which they expect you to be emotionally invested.
>>150443788Meant for >>150441833
>>150443082>>150443655I don't ship them, but it did seem that way to me. Mac's true best friend was Frankie, not Bloo.
>>150441523Why didn't we get more DVDs? a ton of shows got no official DVDs in the US or only a couple seasons, Ben 10 was the only show getting consistent DVD releases until Adventure Time in the 2010s
>>150442699I never cared much for Foster's Home specifically because it was so childish and redundant
The pilot is still one of the greatest things to have come out of Cartoon Network, it's so weirdly wholesome
>>150441523>>150441872>>150442699I think Bloo changed because he interacted with more people at Foster's, that expanded his ego. When he only had Mac he was more inclined to be respectful.
>>150441523Pure chaos doesnt sell well to parents. I wouldnt buy my loud ass annoying good for nothing future school shooter kid a show with chaos and noise in it.
>>150441523>start of series: bloo is a troublemaker but he and mac are really close friends>halfway through series: bloo always causes trouble and annoys mac>end of series: are they friends?
>>150441740>>150441833The difference is that B&M and EEnE actually punished the asshole characters for being assholes. In Foster's it's more like Bloo is an asshole while everyone else around him just has to deal with all the terrible shit he does.
>>150446037But Mandy hardly ever got punished
>>150445009fr tho
>>150441833You can get away with being mean-spirited if a character deserves it or if their misfortune is due to their own character flaws or of their own making. Frank Grimes being driven to a suicidal breakdown because he can’t stand that Homer isn’t being punished by the cosmos for his ignorance is dark… but also a little funny. Grimes could have let shit go, but instead he takes it to comical extremes and ends up losing his mind over his obsession. Some people think the episode went too far, but a lot of people really love that episode.Bart getting bullied to suicide by the town because he missed a catch is mean-spirited, but not funny, because the circumstances aren’t the result of hubris or greed or maliciousness on Bart’s part. Everyone hated that episode. But on the other hand, even when a character receiving mean-spirited treatment is deserved, it’s no fun if it’s done all the time. You couldn’t have an entire show about life crapping on Frank Grimes because it’d get old.Same reason a lot of people don’t like Foster’s. A lot of the stories are mean-spirited towards characters who don’t deserve it, and even though there are stories where the person deserves it, there are too many
>>150441833Tonal inconsistency. If you establish a character as nice, and then arbitrarily make them mean just to facilitate an episode, no one will like it.
It had it's moments. It was funny when Wilt was such a pushover he helped a bank robber.
