>>150453347This is from Dark Patterns if I'm remembering right, despite the seemingly idyllic atmosphere it's still Gotham so shit's still fucked up beneath the surface, due to ACE chemicals experimenting with neurotoxins and later dumping their waste and trying to cover it up on the land that the development was built on there's an entire community of people who've lost their sensation of pain, Batman's tracing the origins of a serial killer murdering his way through the lawyers and corporate stooges who helped cover everything up and ends up beaten by an angry mob who can't feel pain so they end up hurting themselves pushing their bodies to injury and he has a hard time fighting back since causing pain to scare them off won't do anything but he doesn't want to cripple civilians. It's a very Batman specific dilemma, same with the Wound Man who literally runs around impaled with nails and blades and shit, the problem isn't that Batman can't just punch him, the problem is he doesn't feel any pain and if Batman punches him the wrong way he'll sever an artery or puncture an organ and accidentally kill him, which is a pain in the ass for a hero with a no kill rule
