So if he didn't know he was a toy, why did he still go limp around humans and let himself be played with by a child?

Reflex
Trying to integrate with the natives by imitating their response to the giants who dominate the planet.
>>150452906He never questioned why his instinct was to do that? We know toys are conscious while being played with and we know they can choose to come to life in front of them if they want to.
>>150452957holy fucking shit, you should've been a writer back in the day
>>150453733>You should have seen your job go to dykes and then robots.Nah.
>>150452957Yeah, it's pretty much a "When in Rome" deal.
>>150452900It was implied like once or twice that Andy's Toys told Buzz to go into toy mode whenever Andy walked into the room during the movie.
>>150452900The toys frozen state seems to be instinctive, Forky in Toy Story 4 didn’t know he was a toy yet still froze, and in that one Toy Story tv special the Battlesaur somehow knew to freeze after learning he was a toy
>>150453248>He never questioned why his instinct was to do that? No, he knows playing dead is a survival tactic even many animals use when encountering a large predator, let alone in the presence of giants over a hundred time larger than yourself.
>>150452900Andy's house is the only place Buzz went toy mode on his own. He hopped into the pizza truck's cab, ran across the aisle in Pizza Planet, and Woody even had to tell him to go toy mode before Sid reached into his backpack.
>>150453248People with delusions still operate in the real world. They just rationalize their practical decisions with their delusions
>>150454965This. He pushed his limits because he didn't beleive he was a toy. He never crossed that line because his instinct is more powerful than his delusion.
>>150454687It's some kind of "rule", in toy story 1 where Woody gathered to toys around to make a plan to save Buzz he said "Now we're going to have to break a few rules." before the scene transitioned so I think that implies there some kind of toy law they follow.
>>150452900Because
>>150454687I get sad when I think of all the people who've missed out on the Toy Story specials and shorts that came out between the third and fourth films. There's some real great stuff in there
because he thought them going limp was a part of their culture as he thinks he was in a planet. when youre in a different place you are not familiar with you should obviously follow the rules that the said culture gave you. even in the movie Buzz says "It's an honor to be finally accepted into your society!" after getting Andy's name written on his foot.
>>150452900The writers never gave a shit about these stupid toy rules, why do you?
