Why people love yellow characters
>>150454173>Cricket Green
>>150454173Who the fuck is that
It's just four characters that doesn't mean anything. And no the last characters don't count since nobody knows who they are but EVERYBODY knows the first 4
>>150454173I love cricket
>>150454254i know all of them, does that make me the superior one?
>>150454195>>150454254>/co/ still pretends Smiling Friends and Big City Greens aren't popular
>>150454291It's not. Go around the world with this image and asked them to name each character 90% of people no matter where in the world will only be able to name the first 4
>>150454173All these characters have reasons for being popular>Peanuts was popular because the comics managed to be relatable and timeless to many, also paving the way for many other comic strips in the future>The Simpsons was popular because it was a satire on the standard American sitcom at the time, and was the first adult cartoon to widely reference and poke fun at pop culture, it pretty much changed adult animation forever>SpongeBob was popular because it managed to strike the perfect balance between something wacky and cartoony as well as something grounded and relatable made to appeal to both children and adults>Minions are a bit of an odd one because they just so happened to be popular because they were funny, there was nothing special about them, they were just standard animated comic reliefs but in a large group, they caused Illumination to just milk the shit out of them and realize they don’t have to try with their films anymore as long as the Minions are marketable>Smiling Friends isn’t as popular as the other examples, but it is popular now for how unique it is from other adult cartoons on right now and how it feels like a throwback to classic adult swimBig City Greens doesn’t fucking belong on here.
>>150454373the last 2 are only popular on some internet spaces, but in the real world? hell no
>>150454173Yellow is superior to the other colors, next question
>>150454431Entertainment in general is currently in a pretty poor state, Charlie is unfortunately the closest we have to the 2020’s yellow guy.I do have some normie friends that like Smiling Friends, Big City Greens on the other hand isn’t popular to anyone except for autists and children and autistic children.
>>150454431Just so we're on the same page here when you say last two you mean 2009-2010 and 2018-present or the two characters on the 2018 side
>>150454173It all goes back to this guy.
>>150454173What do the years correspond to?
>>1504544962018
>>150454173So are the big City Greens characters yellow because they're copying the Simpsons or because they're all Chinese?
>>150455014Alright then I agree
>be 10>in the kinoplex for toy story 3 or some shit>see despicable me trailer for the first time>hate the minions because they look soulless and retarded>refuse to watch the film because of them>have to put up with minion bullshit merchandise and advertising everywhere>tell myself it's ok, nobody will remember these faggy yellow things a year from now>mfw minions DON'T fuck off and instead become a fucking cultural icon>mfw all the girls and teachers in middle school won't shut the fuck up about minions
>>150454173Sex appeal
Excluding the two on the far right, the four had a lasting cultural appeal effect that was able to distinguish themselves from each other plus they was able to established some sorta of a originality that others tried to borrow in their works and manage to play the role of becoming the company's own cash cow franchise. Smiling Friends is nowhere close to Rick and Morty like Big City Greens is stuck in the shadow of P&F, and they don't cultivate any impact for the mainstream media world.
