Two of the highest grossing media franchises of all time has its characters become free to use, and nothing has come of it outside of cheap parody (that could've been done before they hit PD anyway).Actual creative people would want to make their own original thing instead of serving as free advertising for Disney. Disney themselves still have trademarks with these characters, which is just as effective a deterrent. Things hitting PD has proven to be not as big of a deal as originally thought, so why even carry on this farce by funding an entire Public Domain Horrorverse? There's nothing to gain here.
