The windpipe itself doubles as a phlegm-extractor and the last safety filter for ejecting large, solid indigestible matter stuck in the throat that would otherwise risk a worse jam down the line.Good luck on surpassing all that utility with a sloppy redesign when a built-in reflex already solves the underlying logistics, 10,000,000+ years tried and tested.
