>Half a decade ago 13 episodes was considered a laughably low amount of episodes for a season/full series of an animated show.
When and why did things change into even less then this (8-9 episodes per season/series now being the high end, some as low as 3-4) as the new usual for every series? Even for live action superhero shows.

Adventure Time should be the standard. We need 122 episodes in 3 years or you're not a real show. 8 isn't enough.

Because money
Companies will keep lowering the standards if it means idiot consumers will still buy less at full price

Even then, going to 1/3rd of the episode orders that used to be made on average for a show is not explainable even by cable cuts. And it is not like we are getting the same amount of shows, new approvals of non-educational shows are close to non-existent.
They can afford it. Something is very off.

I do not know
Even Amazon and Apple with trillions of dollars cannot approve shows or get them more then 10 episodes, even proven successes like Hazbin

Unions charge based on the season, lower number of episodes per season means they get to pay them lower which means the union has to lower the number of episodes and so on

TO GOBLIN JAIL!

The meta joke of 13 episodes for the show, which Danner had winked as being Donald's season to be followed by Jose and Panchito's is not lost, but pretty amazing how it extended to cursing the show with no fanart among the dozens of artists that may have seen it.
>>
Is there a mega of these episodes?
>>

short low cost miniseries are the new standard in the age of streaming, not just for cartoons. Netflix openly says that their strategy is just to throw as much shit on the wall as possible and see what sticks, the rest gets cancelled, it's the easies way to make money for them.

It is a unique series in that really the only characters the fandom cares about are the three titular characters, and since the appeared in a lot of media before in the same outfits it is hard to determine if something is meant as LOT3C fanart unless it has Xandra/nieces or the warrior outfits or something very show specific. Anything AU is going to be assumed not series related, so even if it is meant as show fanart it might not be seen as such.
Which the Caballeros have a LOT of fanart as is
>>
>>150484710
You'd think such massive fans of teh Cabs in general would spread the word and do art of the show's unique bend toward the group. I just want more lot3c specific fanart and stories dammit.
>>
>>150478836
Production cycle for cartoons is too long to survive quarterly earnings calls or leadership churn, and MBAs with no love for the craft took over entertainment looking for quick cash.
>>
>>150485104
Same, but it was a pain to get Cabs fans to actually watch the show let alone anyone else
>>
>>150478749
I mean, Adventure Time cheats because episodes are 11 minutes long.
>>
>>150486426
Even 61 episodes in 3 years absolutely bodies pretty much every new show.
>>
>>150485173
Also just remembered Netflix pulling tricks like promising bigger boosts in salaries and benefits for shows after the second season and then cancelling right before they can kick in. It's MBA brained cost cutting ruses all the way down.

There has to be a point where just paying unions is worth having more then zero content
I do not know why they are scared to if that means more product overall to keep engagement

>Remembering when season 2 of any Disney cartoon series in the 90's was 90 episodes
>>
>>150478682
Streaming fucked up profit margins and revenue streams. In conventional linear television broadcasting, advertisement was king. All the money flowed downstream from advertising. Companies as big as Disney were once able to circumnavigate commercials altogether because of how much money their subsidiary networks (ABC, ABC Family, etc) made in addition to other revenue streams like the parks, cruiselines, etc. Early on Disney Channel had no ads but over the years that stopped being the case. By the 2010's the internet played a game of jenga with the linear tv/cable package model. Thus things became unprofittable, and in the race to win the streaming war, content became king. Now all the animation houses in east asia are burdened by excess demand leading to lower production runs. Despire how shit all the media we get now is, the most entertainment ever is being made right now. Quantity over quality.

>>
>>150493752
12 is the standard. In rare cases 10, 11, or 13. If a show does get 20 something or more episodes they started doing this thing where they split up the show(in 12's) and air the 2nd half at a later season or year. This is due to their insane scheduling. Their tv networks run like bullet trains and they have to always shoot for a certain time slot. Things have gotten pretty bad over there.

A lot of your usual 1,000+ episodes shows even started dropping that format and going 12 episode seasonal or just stopped entirely.
>>
>>150483639
If the 13 episodes was meant intentionally as a meta joke in itself that is really clever
This show really did not get enough credit
>>
Did we ever determine who the gayest caballero is
>>
>>150495979
Wild how western media was match anime for a year or two then nose dropped even further to 8 episode seasons, some are now 4 episodes
>>
>>150495595
They are so great why does no one ever pair them
Even this artist seems to see Jose x Donald more romantically it’s so over
>>
>>150493922
It was never 90
