>bring back futurama
>may as well be set in current day

When did they lose the ability to actually make it seem like the future?
These are just modern smartphones.
>>
No no way back. The "eye phone" was an embarassing episode.
>>

BUT ANON PEOPLE AREN'T GOING TO WANT TO WATCH IF THEY CAN'T RELATE
>>
how are people gonna connect to a future that's never going to happen? at least this way both the show and reality suck
>>
>>150482054
Was that the one with the Apple Maps joke?
>>
>>150482031

they did a whole episode that parodied Napster in the original run though that was more clever.
>>
>>150482358
kidnapster was a good play on napster and them stealing their entire identities to implant into robot base bodies was good scifi horror
>>
In the year 2000 America was filled with tremendous hope and awe about "the future". And now we're not.
>>

Whys he playing an old FPS on a laptop when they have full body VR games?
>>

THIS!!!
>>

Yea, they really lost the ability to write episodes that are both timely AND have an interesting sci-fi element to it.
NOTHING in that OP image says "this takes place 1000 years in the future." It is literally just a bunch of current day shit.
If anything, it seems a bit outdated.

because another character was doing that

>>150482791
Same here
It's like weirdly they made multiple seasons pre-smartphones, but now that life's a bit more futuristic compared to 2000, they can't really think beyond that

The whole industry is afflicted with "can't think"
