What a downgrade.

Man, YJ dropped the ball so hard. Made me never wish cancelled shows I liked would be brought back. The first two seasons were so great. But between getting much more free rein with no network constraints, Trump Derangement breaking the writers, and advancements of heavy PC movements, what we got ruined the entire series.

If he stayed red, it would've been better. If he went blue with the same design (pic-related), it would've been better. But what they did looks like some Tumblr fanfic design.

Razer randomly showing up in Phantoms was such needless fanservice and it had no point at all. Which I realize is a sentence that can be used to describe a lot of post-revival YJ but this especially
>>
>>150490074
Plus the repeated S2's mistakes of having a ton of major character arcs happen completely offscreen and introducing dickloads of new characters between the timeskip that end of taking away time from the original cast while also not allowing most of the new characters to get adequate development themselves, and the animation also got worse. I couldn't get through the first episode of S4 because it was just whining about racism when we already covered this shit with far more tact in like S1.
>>150490114
Just give him his old design and make the colors an equal split down the middle.
>>
>>150490074
There's so much they could've done that would've worked and been great. And they did none of it. Instead we got non binary Muslims, a cuckold throuple with fishpeople, the cool black guy who liked a girl now likes men, a Muslim Dr. Fate episode that was pretty much a dawah script, Luthor as Trump, single black mother dealing with autistic child, and raceswapped Zod family. WTF.
>>

>>150490944
I’m more interested in how they were apparently gonna have Magog show up later
>>
>>150491821
>he cool black guy who liked a girl now likes men
That's not really a problem, the issue is that he went from being the LEADER OF THE JUSTICE LEAGUE to Atlantis' favorite lapdog.
>>
>>150489997
I kinda like it

>Trump Derangement breaking the writers, and advancements of heavy PC movements, what we got ruined the entire series.
S3 and S4 were shit but not because they hurt your feefees
>>
>>150491821
Those are just nitpicks, the direction and writing of the show are what made it true shit. You could keep all of those things off the table and follow the same path and it still would be just as bad.
>>
>>150490944
Your former is absolutely right. Weisman's biggest issue was that he wanted to keep expanding the worldbuilding but it only lead to half-assed attempts that he dropped as soon as he got bored with them. S1 is the peak because of how contained it was instead of dilly-dallying with a gazillion of characters having unsatisfying introductions and even more unsatisfying conclusions that in the end were gonna be sidelined by the next season to repeat the same mistakes all over again.
>>
>>150492376
P.S. This is why I'm glad it got cancelled again. I don't want to care for a show that it's never going to end because the writers have a big plot in the back burner that they admittedly never intend to write a conclusion for.

I'll be honest. The infuriating part isn't the social commentary. The infuriating part is that social commentary seems to be built entirely on the Greg's own ego
>LOOK AT ME I DID A TOPICAL! MY SHOW IS SO MATURE! IM ADDRESSING THE ISSUES BECAUSE MY SHOW IS MATURE LIKE THAT! YOU ALL PRAISED IT FOR BEING SO MATURE IN ITS WRITING SO NOW IM DOING STUFF I COULDNT DO ON CN TO BE EVEN MORE MATURE!
That's what every bit of social commentary felt like.
The religion episode especially, when Zatara just fucking halts the plot to recite the Lord's Prayer because faith or something. The episode isn't making any actual specific point about how they rectify their faith with their conflicting lifestyle, it's just sorta sitting there and doing the plotline because it FEELS mature.
Same with the immigrant plotline. It's not talking about anything like the culture shock they face or how they feel about having to move homes, it's just paying lipservice to the fact that those are things that happen before rushing back to the actual plot

>>150492576
Or also how their idea of development for Halo was making her a walking menagerie of labels
>>
>>150489997
Oh no he's hot.
>>
>>150492337
It's not about hurt feefees, it's about the inability to keep from shoving your politics into shit where it does not belong at the direct expense of story and characters.
This world has its own thing going on, and trying to crow bar in political screeds about real world politics only serves to break immersion

That's exactly what hurt feefees sound like
>>
>>150492337
My feefees weren't hurt, but the writer's feefees were clearly in shambles. And the season suffered for it.
Did that explain it for you or should we call the affirmative action guys to give you a pass regardless?

>started in one show
>continued in another show
>then continued in the comics
It's nice to see that their story is so popular that writers kept it going.
>>
I really wonder what season 3 of YJ would have looked like if it had continued on pre-woke Cartoon Network.
>>
>>150492882
And in Justice League Action- which was so much better than the other not in continuity continuation episode. It was an episode with Hal losing his ring and Aya was revealed as Space Cabbie's amnesiac GPS, who leaves to find Razer. Justice League Action was very fun and it's too bad it was slept on and had such a short run.

It concluded in COIE but it was such a disservice that it officially didn't happen
>>
>>150490074
It's so funny how they got a random they/them to write the they/them episode and a random Muslim to write the Muslim episode.
>>
>>150493016
Even funnier how they talk about the meaning of wearing the hijab but never allude that women get killed for refusing to do so
>>
>>150491821
>>150492576
>Lex Luthor: There's a lot of fake news out there!
So clever.
>>
>>150492927
Justice League Action was fun. I kind of wish we could've gotten longer episodes, but I guess that was just the style.
>>
All people wanted in a YJ revival was Wally brought back and they didn't even tease that.
>>
>>150493649
Weisman already said he was never ever gonna do that. He did apologize for basically removing the last relevant version of Wally though, he said he didn't realize that at the time.
>>
Wally vanishing made no sense either.
>>
Try rewatching the older seasons of Young Justice.
The "good ones".
>Hellooooo Megan
>I'm Whelmed
that stuff was never good
>>
>>150493987
they were kids, they spoke like kids. you didn't like the episode where they were in that scenario where things literally kept getting worse and they all died? or the episode where they are voting for the new justice league? or the superboy two-parter at the start?
it and batman tbatb were the last good dc action shows, even if weisman and vietti tried to be too clever with some of the dc lore
there are so many deep cuts - the appellaxians, intergang, thomas kalmaku, snapper carr and happy harbor as the base etc.

It was fun to mock though and didn’t ruin the show
>>
I kinda really liked Tula, I wish she showed up more in comics
>>
So how did it get such a big fanbase? Just no other DC action cartoons besides it at the time?
>>
>>150495332
>So how did it get such a big fanbase?
People wanted a serious DC cartoon.
>>
>>150492981
COIE should have been a crossover between the multiple animated shows instead of a half adaptation of the comic with new versuins of the heroes.
