They were cheaply made, the equivalent of 70s hanna-barbera slop
>>150496524Ed, Edd and Eddie had none of those?
>>150496524- Most of Canada's population lives along its southern border, because shit gets COLD the further north you go.- As a result, they're close enough to the US to pick up some of the northern states' over-air broadcast TV channels- This, combined with regular, intentional importation of US media, results in a lot of US TV being viewed in Canada- Concerned about national identity in media, the Canadian government passes a law that TV channels they control must have a certain % of Canadian-made content.- To facilitate this, Canadian media production can receive grants from the government to help offset some of the production cost.- In the beginning this produces quality entertainment, as cartoon production requires great skill and getting some government cash can really help the production process- As time goes on, new technologies and techniques arise that makes cartoon animation easier and cheaper to shit out. Overall quality degrades. As for "fetishes"- Kids find farts funny- You find farts sexual.
all the talented Canadians left for the US
everyone with talent just finds work in the USthe industry is a joke now so canada technically has a shot at a rebound, but now they just hire stupid soulless foreigners to do everything
>>150496748>>150498506its annoying cause my friend is an animator who wants to work but can't find it, at the least he has a lucrative CostCo gig right now. also cause we wanna make a show together someday. He wanna make the most ambitious Canadian cartoon since the Peak Mainframe days.
>>150496707The exeption to the rule.
>>150496748>regular, intentional importation of US media, results in a lot of US TV being viewed in Canada>Concerned about national identity in media, the Canadian government passes a law that TV channels they control must have a certain % of Canadian-made content.>To facilitate this, Canadian media production can receive grants from the government to help offset some of the production cost. This happens in a lot of countries outside the US. I don't know about Canada but here in the UK the government has been cutting those subsidies since the economy went to shit after 2008 (then brexit, then covid). If the Canadian government acted similarly that probably means they've had less money to produce shows and quality has suffered as a result.
>>150498929all the media subsidies in Canada just go to Liberal party propaganda in the media instead of making actual honest to god good content, how very miserable of an existence.
>>150496748>As for "fetishes">- Kids find farts funny>- You find farts sexual. Also farts are like, the easiest joke to make, fitting for lowbrow comedy shows. Why try to make an effort on something actually funny when you can just add farts? Instant comedy gold.
>>150496524>When the annoying sidekick is done right
>>150496524Canada is a degenerate country full of mentally ill faggots with no taste.
As anything with gov funds involved; Money laundering
>>150496748>As for "fetishes">- Kids find farts funny>- You find farts sexual. This is why I hate "quite on set" doc and everything about tween sitcoms. They all act like these shows where softcore porn brainwashing teens in to being sex addicts. I don't understand how people can forget what they where like when they where a teen. These shows weren't fetish bait they accurately captured how fucking teenagers are, relatively horny and not that butt fucking stupid to know what the hell is going on around them.
>Always Flash AnimatedCanadian government is cheap>Annoying SidekickPost Movie SpongeBob is animation's biggest hit of this century
How hard would it be to make a show like beastwars or reboot, and use 90s tier graphics?
>>150499474Incredibly easy and cheap given the advances in 3D animation and computing power since then. As someone who studied 3D art and animation I could make something like ReBoot on my home PC. But would anyone watch it?
>>150499550>But would anyone watch it?I would depending on the plot/writing (But I don't understand why anyone would say Beast Wars' CGI was low quality)
>>150496524no they look more like this
>>150496524A lot of 2010’s Canadian animation is shit but the 80’s-2000’s stuff is really good. Try something like The Raccoons!
>>150499550If it was as cool as either BW or Reboot I'd sign up day one.
>>150496524Where's the QT female best friend? A Canadian cartoon is incomplete without it
>>150499287It's always farts which is annoying, it feels at times like an oddly specific creative mandate when you could easily spin many other fetishes as wacky and funny in the right context
>>150496748It doesn't help that>show rights below to the studio, never the network>the only revenue the network gets is from ads>so the only shit they'll greenlight is the stuff that's safe and inoffensive to out of touch network CEOs stuck in the 90s.
>>150500181Those are real people
>>150501491Sounds like YouTube modeled their content policies after CanCon
>>150501500You're not, though
>>150499287There's a reasonable line that can be drawn based on very specific pieces of evidence versus baseless conjecture. Like all the evidence really does point to Dan Schneider being into feet. Brian Peck's "pickle boy" schtick is definitely connected to his homosexual pederasty. I absolutely believe shit like this after seeing Thaddeus McMichael's "who ordered cheese pizza?" post on Facebook or Dr. Pizza's arrest for CP. Some people get a lot of pleasure from hinting at their deviancy without stating it openly. But when someone says "hmmm there sure are a lot of fart gags........they knew what they were doing with this one ;)" then that's not enough to tar anyone as a fart fetishist.
