>Decisions like these are above my paygrade, but the honest reason is that not enough of us were buying it. The sales numbers on GA were just unsustainable. It’s disappointing to everyone. But keeping it going means not being able to take other chances.>We all assume if a series is critically well received or gets awards, it’s a high seller, but the opposite can be true>For example, one of my favorite series ever, and in my opinion one of the best, Gotham Central was literally one of DC’s lower selling books during that period>To be clear, the series lives really well in trade, and now is like a perennial seller, thankfully, as it should be, but that era was different, price point was lower, you could keep things going longer. It’s harder these days to go past 12 if a series doesn’t have the salesFrom Scott Snyder today regarding Green Arrow's cancellation
>>150499849Oh no, how will we read asshole far-left arrow Batman now?!
>>150499849There’s no point in launching a comic that’s not Batman, Spider-Man or X-Men if DC and Marvel continue to exclusively pursue the Wednesday Warrior
>>150499880>Somewhere at there, some ESL at a third world country who knows capeshit like the back at their hand and is a connoisseur for it is banging on their head knowing their hobby's future is determined by pic related
>>150499861He's getting an Absolute book where he fights not Jeffrey Epstein
>>150499849Thank you captain obvious.Literally nobody cared about this comic. It wasn’t good and it didn’t sell. >>150499880>continue to exclusively pursue the people who buy the product you make1. They sell digital subscriptions2. They should make less books for people who only glaze woke shit on twitter and focus on traditionalist fans that actually got to shops. Woke/progressive/diverse shit should be digital-only
>>150500478That makes no sense the left never cared about Epstein and still doesnt. 4 months ago they still referred to it as a crazy MAGA conspiracy.
I've heard it was pretty good. But /co/ wouldn't care cause Green Arrow is a niche character nowadays.
>>150500532Arrow literally saved the CW network, how did this happen?
>>150500570That was just not-Batman.
>>150500532>im totally the only non-casual on /co/Kill yourself you insufferable faggot. Post the floppies you bought for this series. Oh that’s right, you only ever “heard” this was good.
>>150499849>we all assume if a series is critically well received or gets awards, it’s a high seller,Nobody actually believes this. Awards have always just been industryfags circle jerking over shit normal people don't care about.
>>150499880Isn't AMM a surprise hit?
>First things first - this doesn't mean a new writer is coming in. The book, to the best of my knowledge, is over. GREEN ARROW has never been a top-seller, which you can guess from the number of times he's had a book on the stands. It's been inconsistent for a reason - he never quite gets over the hump of where DC wants sales to be. That's unfortunately the reality in commercial arts, like comics. If you're not selling, you're not going to continue making for long. On top of this, DC is going to be releasing two additional Green Arrow books in 2026, both seemingly trending toward what Montos and I were doing with the title in 2024 and 2025. So, if you do the math, I think it's quite simple. DC wouldn't have three titles with a character that doesn't sell particularly well, would they?>I'll be the first to say that I'm disappointed by this. I was really enjoying writing the characters and exploring Star City with Montos and the great team on the title. We had some vague plans of where things were going to go (Tate Brombal and I brainstormed a possible Batgirl and Connor Hawke crossover arc, though we never formally pitched DC - my title got the ax before we got the chance). But this is just the way these things go, unfortunately. But while I'm disappointed, I understand why it happened. I can't force readers to pick up a book. I can't force people to like a character that I like. I can only do what I do - write the best stories I can come up with.https://www.patreon.com/posts/on-green-arrow-139455664
>>150499861Its was better than the batman ongoings, god forbid a hero have actual character flaws
>>150500504>they sell digital subscriptionsYes, of comics written geared toward the Wednesday Warrior who’s up to date on the eight million different continuities and canons and the difference between Amazing Spider-Man #1 vol 2, 5, 8, and 10>they should make less boss for people who only glaze woke shitWhy does it not surprise me the guy defending the current distribution model of comics is one of you people
>>150500522>We are at war with Eastasia>We have always been at war with Eastasia.
>>150502654No no faggot read the rest where I say they should literally make comics I would hate and make them accessible to people who would read them. Almost like you’re too much of a bitch to actually understand when, in practice, people you dislike can actually agree with you in some ways. The simple fact of the matter is those comics are being hurt by the printing and distribution costs associated with physical release. If they made the comics for a younger more progressive audience digital only they would have lower overhead costs and thus more financial viability. I specifically did not at they should stop making them.
I wish they'd gone with Condon and Montos from the start. The only things I liked about the Williamson run were Roy and Lian reuniting and the team-up issues with Connor and Hal.
>>150501935>We had some vague plans of where things were going to go (Tate Brombal and I brainstormed a possible Batgirl and Connor Hawke crossover arcHuh, I remember him saying he wanted to use Connor next after the current Roy arc.
