Why they don't want to make a second theatrical movie?
too much work
Nobody would watch it
Because the market for musical animated movies is long gone, and the gaming industry is far more profitable, which is why they made a bunch of games in the 2010s instead.
>>150500343Back in the 90s South Park was huge so a movie was the next logical step. Now it's a zombie show and very few people would care about a second movie.
>>150500483That didn't stop Spongebob.
Remember Team America? It was such a nightmare they swore off movies forever.
>>150500343They'll have to hire a few writers.
>>150500358Encanto and K-POP: Demon Hunters
>>150500358>which is why they made a bunch of games in the 2010s insteadA bunch? You mean 2?
>>150500355I would...
>>150500556SpongeBob constantly has new generations of kids to fall back on. South Park hasn't been movie levels of popular for 20 years
They did but it turned into imagination land
>>150500343I guess they're not interested.Anyway, the film came out at the perfect time, when the art still looked like paper cutouts.
>>150501308Notice that they are both popular streaming movies that had good performing, but limited limited, theatrical releases.
>>150500343Imaginationland, even if most of the crossovers are legally distinct to avoid a lawsuit.
>>150501308>Encanto That one was barely popular and nobody thought about it until the Bruno song went viral.>K-POP: Demon HuntersWon't last once the Kpop fad ends.
>>150500593Aren't they making a new movie with Kendrick Lamar?
>>150504762Huh, apparently so. They must be more hands off with this one.
>>150500343They did, it was called Team America: World Police and it wasnt as good but wasnt awful either
>Previous efforts to produce another South Park film were complicated by both Paramount and Warner Bros. retaining certain rights to the IP. The deal mentioned that Paramount had the next five years to develop another film or else Warner Bros. regains the rights. It never came to be so Warner Bros. continues to share them with Paramount.Apparently they cannot do it beacuse WB co-owns the South Park film rights
Ya know, after Team America they wanted to do a movie spoofing tokusatsu, with real suits and miniatures and everything. But the nightmare making Team America made them call it off.
>>150500343Butters absolutely does not deserve to be on the cover
>>150500355Don't doubt the power of Fujos and shippers anon
>>150504885Matt and Trey admit that their biggest regret while making the flm was not introducing Butters early on.
>>150500343>Movie is 100 percent computer animated>Printed onto 35mm film for its theatrical release and still uses the print for home mediaAbsolute SOVLThere's something both weird and interesting about CG/digital work mastered to analog film
>>150505300It helps it give that paper effect that makes it look handmade
>>150500343A lot of time, money, and effort into something incredibly risky and with little pay off. Stuff like this just doesn't make sense without the physical media market of 20 years ago.
