I don't get this scene. From like, a narrative standpoint.

Why Shanti? Kaa exists in the original movie to show how dangerous the jungle is, which Mowgli doesn't understand. Shanti is already terrified of the jungle. She doesn't need an encounter eith Kaa to hammer that fact in.

If anything, narratively, it seems to punish her for leaving her comfort zone.

Why was this released in theaters?
