I read the original Jungle Book, and the Second Jungle Book too, and ever since I've been pissed at Disney's version since it's practically nothing like the books. In particular Kaa gets done EXTREMELY dirty in the Disney slop. In the books he's basically a friendly Eldritch abomination, he's implied to be older than the jungle and the most terrifying thing in it, but in a fun twist he's also actually a pretty nice guy and a friend of Mowgli's. He's as good a friend to Mowgli as Bagheera and Baloo, and the three of them are the ones who come to sing him farewell when he leaves the Jungle for good.
