Pacifica behind the doner looks around, surely a northwest can't be seen eating the food where she works. The coast is clear but the muffin is now gone. She hears little feet scampering. Pacifica takes off just barely seeing a gnome take off with her muffin.

Northwest Manor Mystery still my favorite episode of Gravity FallsReally made me wish there were more than 10 episodes left in the series after it because I think it showed so much potential for Pacifica try to correct the crooked legacy of her family which seems intrinsically tied to the town/setting itself.

I know a lot of people have this vision of Preston being an absolute monster and while he is a prick, forcing Pacifica into a cage seems a little too cartoonishly evil for him. Even the worst thing he did with the Pavlov bell feels just on the cusp of what you could reasonably see a parent trying to use to control their child, which adds to its creepiness in how almost close to home it can be.

It's only as time goes on I think you should show some of the rationale for their behavior with signs of improvement so as not to seem like you're justifying it right off the bat.While the bell itself was introduced late they do give you enough signs of the Northwests' emotional abuse earlier on. The golf episode showed the harsh expectations set upon her and even a couple of her S1 episodes can infer how much pressure her parents put her under to appear 'perfect' and always win. I would not be opposed to the bell making an earlier appearance if the show had a longer run and Pacifica taking more time to get over it but given the show's pacing I think the bell being overcome in the same episode it premiered was perfectly fine. The bell was creepy and symbolic of the hold her family had over her but that control I think was already set up enough in advance before the bell.
