The only reason these threads keep being made is because you lameasses keep letting them die in favor of the same pedo circlejerk threads.

Idk about you, but even if I'm well aware these long-running shows are still on the air purely for money, I still find the idea of them potentially ending some day to make for fascinating theoretical discussion. I'm shocked more of /co/ isn't as interested.

>>150518431
>>Simpsons is still on the air
While the writing has improved somewhat recently, it's only gotten further from the original tone, now becoming TOO saccharine. Also Julie Kavner deserved to retire 4 seasons ago. End it.
>>Futurama is still on the air
I'm 2 episodes into the newest season of Hulurama and it's rising in quality back to Comedy Central levels. I reserve judgement once I finish the next 8, but I think it's fine to keep going.
>>Family Guy is still on the air
Stopped being funny after season 3, they should've saved Da Boom for the finale instead of When You Wish Upon a Weinstein. Petarded was the earliest sign of the show deciding to make all the characters irredeemable shitbags. Kill Seth Macfarlane in real life.
>>American Dad is still on the air
And thank god it is so I can say that Seth didn't deserve to die in 9/11, probably the only decent thing he ever shat out because of how far divorced its gotten from the original premise. Let a thousand flowers bloom.
>>Bob's Burgers is still on the air
I haven't kept up with it too well, but I hate how defanged Louise has become and at the same time how many episodes focus on the kids over Bob & the restaurant. Maybe that's changed in the past couple seasons, idk. It got a movie, it could end if Bouchard felt like it.
>>King of the Hill is still on the air
Haven't watched any of the new season yet, no comment.
>>Beavis and Butthead is still on the air
Simple formulas never get tired, but they also manage to innovate with Adult B&B and Smart B&B. Hope they never end it.
>>South Park is still on the air
Latest season has been full of member berries, true. Counterpoint: it's funny again. Kill it when it stops being funny again.

>>
>>150518431

Ninjago is also still on the air and its good
>>
>>150521574
>>SpongeBob is still on the air
It's the same critique everyone says, but I hate how overanimated the new seasons are. I'd only call for its death if every single executive at Viacom died tomorrow and they got some people who know how to run more shows than his 24/7 on the (former) Nicktoons Network. I miss the days when that first launched and it was where they dumped a shitload of acquired programming they bought for some reason, we need experimental Nickelodeon back and we need executive willing to run a show for more than 1.5 seasons. Until then, it's a load bearing sponge.
>>Robot Chicken is still on the air
And it's the last stop-motion series- wait no it isn't, Women Wearing Shoulderpads is stop motion. I haven't watched that yet, it's just sitting in my DVR, I really should. I miss Shivering Truth, now THAT is a show that should've never stopped airing.
>>Rick and Morty is still on the air
And it should've died after season 3 premiered, or after Roiland got shitcanned, or not gotten the reorder past season 10. End it.
>>Teen Titans Go is still on the air
I wish we'd gotten the pilot as the full series, even if the writing were completely identical. Seeing it animated as a genuine chibi version of the main show would make it more tolerable. Anyway, never should've gotten greenlit as it currently is.
>>
>>150518431
This is entertainment purgatory, either only boomers and genxers had real creativity or millennials and zoomer are being left out in the cold. The 2020s have been pretty lacklustre for cartoons.
>>
>>150518620
>Phineas & Ferb
You know how they found the pilot again recently and everyone commented on how much more attitude Phineas had in it? How they clearly sanded things down for the full series order? It feels like the revival sanitized things again, but mostly for the Perry subplots. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the new writers was an unironic Perryschmirtz shipper, and one of the ones where they ship Doof with a humanized Perry, real bottom of the barrel fujoshism.
>>150519561
>Regular Show
I don't wanna judge the ass hovering over my plate, because it could easily shit out a goldbrick as it could a turd. I wasn't personally interested in Close Enough (because I think that the restraint of children's programming makes for more interesting plot developments that you'd never consider with as wide open a field as adult animation offers, which inevitably leads to an Occam's Razor approach to comedy, prioritizing easy digs like sex & curse words) but I don't think Quintel has lost his touch. Time will tell (if it even gets ordered).
>>150521581
>Ninjago
Demographic skews a tad too far to be enjoyable for adults. I'd let my kids watch it, but they probably wouldn't like it since legos are fucking outrageously expensive these days. I used to get a new set every couple months when I was a kid, then it was only for special occasions, and then Lego Group realized they could jack up the prices for DINK kidults who treat it as a mature hobby - pricing out the original target group, who they STILL advertise to via shows like Ninjago so kids can pester their parents about it.
>>
>>150518431
I can't fucking believe Futurama is in season 10 already.
And holy shit I can't get past episode 2. Fucking garbage as always.
>>
>>150521676

>>
>>150521574
>it's rising in quality back to Comedy Central levels
I don't think I've ever heard a more backhanded compliment.
>>
>>150518431
This hell of eternal shows is fucking killing the industries. Shows need to end so we can have other new things.

Things need to work on Star Trek rules. At 7 seasons, it ends. Does not matter if it's still good, it ends at 7 seasons. Make a new show if you want the ratings to keep going.
>>
>>150521574
It's almost painful going back and watching the pre-cancelled episodes and seeing how far Family Guy has fallen. That show used to be genuinely great.

I can't believe there is any kind of an audience that still watches Simpsons. There just cannot be that many people viewing making it a worthwhile thing,

Bob's Burgers has become so safe and sterile that it's just a half hour nothing of a show where nothing of note actually happens.
Spongebob I see as replacing Looney Tunes as the timeless wacky comedy that all small kids watch in between anything else.

The Rest

The idea that a cartoon Renaissance is being held back because older shows still exist is laughable. New shows debut every year and 95% of them are garbage. The Simpsons was on the air when some of the talent made Futurama, and Enchanted. Family Guy was still producing new episodes when talent branched out to make American Dad, and The Cleveland Show. Bob's Burgers waa still hard at work when they made those godawful Central Park and Alaska shows.

NOTHING is stopping the industry from making good new cartoons except the industry's lack of talent.

Don't know what to tell you. It's fine. It was an A+, then it sank to a C- before rebounding around the time of the movie... not back to the Golden Era level but it was a solid B+ for a few years. It fell to a C+ for a season or two and is now comfortably back in the B range.

It's adequate. It's 24 minutes of occasionally funny material. Plus, the writers are free to experiment like that 2-part Coen Brothers homage. I've been listening to internet screech about canceling the show for over 2 decades at this point... it's just pointless to keep arguing. You don't like it, that's fine. I like it, so I'll watch it. I don't recommend it to people, I don't shill for it, etc. It's not a culture war for me, it's a 24 minute cartoon that has a few good episodes a year and that's enough.
>>
>>150538957
I didn't even know they were making new B&B. I was going to make an additional category of "need to see before I judge" or something but didn't feel like making the post any longer.

Original B&B was fun, even snuck into the theater to watch the movie with two classmates but it never had any lasting appeal to me. I went back and rewatched shows like King of the Hill and Simpsons on DVD but there just wasn't any need to revisit B&B. I don't know, maybe I'm missing out?

Hating on the Simpsons has become a generational hobby. Most of the critics have never even seen the show. Period.

They were just told it had become bad, and they opted not to even watch the classic episodes because "why bother if it gets bad?" It's almost a past time now, just complain about a show that you never watched and never intend to watch... because.
>>
>>150539141
It really is miraculous. It started so poorly, and was immediately disliked by fans because it was similar ENOUGH to Family Guy. Then, rather than giving in to fans, they just forged their own path. Despite cancelation threats, network changes, abandonment from the original creator, and screwy airtime changes, it's managed to flourish.

...which is probably why it will be the first cartoon in OP listing to die.
