I pretty much only read 2000AD these days but looked at an American series that sounded interesting recently, I don't remember the name, something about conspiracies from Image I think, and the trades were like £15 for 5 issues and I just didn't bother. A manga volume is usually about £9 in my LCS, they do a permanent 3 for 2 deal on them, and they're like twice the length. I grab the first couple of volumes of manga series that look interesting all the time but pretty much only buy Western rereleases of stuff I've read and enjoyed or books from authors I already know I like.
