We've got superheroes mixed up in all sorts of genres, but which one is lacking? Which combination is lacking any good stories?
Random pic from Google images for superhero horror.

I often think fantasy based capeshit could use a lot of work, but I feel like to fix that you'd have to strip away too many of the cape elements. Defeating the whole purpose. Horror has been done a lot but apparently it could be done a lot better if people actually thought Immortal Hulk qualified

not sure if military counts as a genre, but I’m quite surprised there aren’t more cape comics set during wartime, on the battlefield

I guess that’s too masculine for the current industry to ever consider :/

We aren't in wartime which is why old comics were set in it to promote war efforts. More people are also against war now than before.

Medical.
There is some, but I can't think of a more under represented one.

yes which is confusing me more
Why has an overpoliticized shithead not set a supe comic during wartime specifically to demonize wartime
It is the easiest story in the world, it would draw direct parallels to the birth of the genre while letting the author preach about how bad war is by doing something edgy like giving the hero ptsd or whatever lol
It seems like such a low-hanging fruit for the current type of writers in the industry, I’m really surprised it has barely been touched. Especially surprised that it was barely touched on in the 90s/2000s.

Sort of hard to do medical drama in settings where so many people have healing factors or some form of near-instant healing, be it through super-tech or other
>>
>>150529078
That's a good one.
>>150529509
It could involve super disease or shit like that.

Cold War is cheating

I don’t hate myself enough to read Ennis stories so I don’t know
>>
>>150533012
That's alright. Ennis comics are for people who still like fun.

Superhero comedy is pretty shit.
>>
>>150528251
I think horror is in the worst spot, there's good horror style art and stuff in comics but a horror story basically can't have superheroes, even the "human" ones.
>>
>>150534897
There's plenty of good superhero horror.

They could try something with Dr. Mid-Nite, both of them.

If Gunn was smart he would've made a Justice League International mockumentary.

Ennis did some of this in the boys, to seethe about cap. america "disrespecting vets", and venting his non-existent trauma over the troubles
>>
>>150534897
Unless the superheroes are causing the horror, in which case it’s a lot of fun!

Superhero horror was mastered by Alan Moore's Swamp Thing and Hellboy, there's little reason to continue after that.

He's inspired by the Masked Marvel, a PDSH, but is a unique character.
>>
>>150529509
I mean, that's Punisher's entire deal. The main problem is capeshit generally doesn't acknowledge wars outside of WWII because it was the last war that America felt completely morally justified in getting involved with. Superheroes are not a particularly good avenue for criticizing war in a realistic way, the idea itself is tonally silly.
>>
>>150531985
They might not get used these days much but DC has a shit ton of western characters.
