Name the first time you felt uncomfortable watching a cartoon.

This scene scared the shit out of me as a kid.

For the longest time as a kid, and I swear I am not making this up, I thought the horror and panic in this scene came ftom the fact there was a spongebob imposter, or some dark presence was in the scene that I could not see within this scene that only patrick could see. The standing there menacingly meme was a real fear for me and I still get goose bumps with pic rel because I know that the stonefaced spongebob near the street lamp is not the same as the panicking spongebob on the other end of patrick's walkie talkie in the closeup scenes
>where is he?
>at the intersection of conch, and corral
Is engrained into my memory to this very day
>>
>>150537535
The fact he has to have FRIEND written on the label is quite unnerving, because knowing Patrick, he would forget

It's either the animated Hobbit movie from the 70s, or that episode of Thomas the Tank Engine with the crane guy. No, not the one about the train who was punished by being stuck in a tunnel forever; if I saw that one in preschool, I'd probably be inconsolable...

My grandpa forced me to watch The Yellow Submarine with him a couple times, claiming it was "true cartoons" and better than what I wanted to watch. I was always weirded out as shit by it and mostly looked away from the TV.

I had a similar Arthur trauma, but it was a scene George hulks out or something. I don't get it. I feel unnerved when a character turns into Hulk or something similar. I can at least tolerate my trauma once in a while though.

>>150537558
>ET also scared me
ET legitimately did some scary shit. The fact that all these doctors and government operatives set up their weird, inhuman biohazard equipment right inside Elliot's own fucking home is the kind of thing that an adult doesn't really think about, but it'll greatly unnerve a child. It's a total dehumanization and invasion of privacy. It's no mistake on Spielberg's part that in a movie about a literal alien, the most "alien" behavior and atmosphere we see is perpitrated by humans.

Not sure it was my first, but I was very very young. The heart scene in Not Without My Handbag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAyQVRGuyKU

My parents rented a VHS of Aardman stuff to watch Wallace and Gromit, somehow didn't realize they should reconsider when it opened with the Universal Studios intro except with a nude clay man standing on the globe with his todger dangling lol.

I had nightmares for weeks. Between that and my OCD and such, I have pretty much constant heart-related anxiety to this day.

Disney's Pinocchio scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid. The scene where Stromboli throws the axe in the box of old puppets and says he would make good firewood, creepy smile of the guy in red, donkey transformation. I had a nightmare Stromboli came to my first grade classroom and I could see him outside the window smiling and waiting for me. I don't think I've watched it since. I loved the other one though, Emperor of the Night. I've heard people say that one scared them but for some reason the OG was pure nightmare fuel for a young me

Oh yeah, this bullashit.

>>150539037
The government actually acts eith extreme goodwill. They desperately tried to ssave ET and wanted to peacefully communicate with him. It's really weird the kids steal ET because Elliot could have easily convinced them to take him to the landing site.

That one Goof Troop episode with the shark that relentlessly chases Pete. I just kept thinking how fucking terrifying it must have been from Pete's perspective.

>>
Petrie’s panic while almost drowning in tar in the first movie hit too close to home regarding my own near death, in addition to seeming so much worse for it to happen in pitch black sludge rather than water
Also I was petrified of the buildup to the bear attack in Balto
>>
Not from a tv show but, when I was really young I went to a 3d animated show with my family and one of my cousins said to me
>Don't take the glasses off or you'll be trapped inside the movie forever
and that made so scared I held on to a railing with my all life force so I wouldn't have to go inside
>>
>>150544048
Hooooly crap I remember this from Incredible Pizza. Didn't it have some blatant product placement for FedEx or something?
>>
>>150537535
I don't know if it was my first, but the one I remember the most is the first scene with Clayface from The Batman. They really sold the horror aspect of it.
>Seeing his face melt in the mirror
>Trying to dial for help and he can't work the buttons
>Bursting out of his apartment to beg for help and people think he's attacking them
>Get tazed and firehosed down the gutter
It's kind of funny that the TAS one didn't bother me. Maybe because it didn't get that visceral until the climax.

It probably has something to do with the pitch blackness of the background and the logo, which itself is unevenly stretched and warped. Combined with the leading bass, it gives a real uncanny vibe that, granted, does work within the context of the show but still hits a weird chord inside (especially when you reach the end of your VHS and you're left with pure blackness afterwards)

>>150539084

Gonna greentext something that actually happened to me, I've posted about it a few times before so if this seems familiar yeah it was probably me
>Right around the time this episode aired
>Me and my mom go on vacation to a beach house
>For some reason there's like a spooky movie marathon going on on one of the channels so we watch a lot of old spooky movies together
>Suddenly get violently ill, 105 fever, tremors, throwing up everywhere
>Lying in bed shivering my ass off when the King Rameses episode airs
>Combination of the weird CGI, illness, and the fact I've watched a bunch of spooky movies sends my brain into ultrafucked territory
>Hallucinate that Rameses is literally in the room with me
>Pull the covers over my face, let them down, seems like he's gone
>Peer over the edge of my bed and hallucinate that he's still there
>Starts rocking back and forth in the room
>Run out to my mom screaming, start throwing up again just a few minutes later after she's somehow guided me to the bathroom and every time I look up he's in the mirror watching us
Now there's some fucking ingrained trauma for the thread

I can't think of anything for western cartoons. I only really experienced horror when Dragon Ball Z had Cell just stab people and drain them.

Not sure if seeing that weird creature that tried getting into our house when I was 3 had anything to do with it. According to my dad, he remembers how, after it tried breaking the door, he saw it jump into the air and try to enter through the roof (I vividly remember hearing it land, then walk across since a part of that roof was all metal). It left after my dad went outside and just shot it a few times.
