I'm going to continue storytiming my fantasy comic Oi! Tales of Bardic Fury. It's set in 360 AD Ireland and follows the story of a bard-in-training who gets sent to a tiny village by the sea called Oi that never heard music before. Looking back in hindsight, the lettering is pretty bad in these pages. The font could be much bigger in several panels and dialogue should be shortened and made punchier.
Seems like a bad deal to me

Phoenicia besides being alphabet stuff and some trading in the Mediterranean is also something I hardly know about so I think your interest in niche historical peoples is valiant and cool. Perhaps drawing waifu fan art or like poses of your own characters would be the best way to practice and maybe dipping into commissions sparingly to do whatever someone wants (according to your rules) is the best way. I dunno that's how I think I would do it if I had time to learn to draw and get to that point.
