why does every pixar movie look like the grubhub ad now?
>>150551744It's fucked how Pixar went from the studio that pionered the art of iconic character design to the big budget 3D beanmouth studio. It's really is over for western animation.
>>150552009It's hilarious how Disney declared 2D is dead and all their $100 million budgeted 3D movies like Elio lose money, then 2D movies from smaller studios like Demon Slayer Infinity Castle come out and make $500 million + on a $16 million budget.
>>150552031obsessed
>>150551744Why is it that modern Illumination films unironically look more visually appealing than the first studio that should come to mind when one thinks of 3D animation?
>>150552031>UFOtable>small do you do even the smallest amount of research before you bait
>>150552009Pixar gradually declined ever since Disney bought them, Up and Toy Story 3 were great films, but they're where the cracks in the studio began to show, Up had a great opening, but said opening gave Pixar the reputation for tugging on your heartstrings, so every emotional moment in the films that came after felt manufactured as a result. Toy Story 3 was a great film, but it's what taught Pixar that sequels are profitable, and it's what caused them to make sequels just for the sake of money. The beanmouth style they use is also cancer, there are tons of stylized 3D films out there like Hotel Transylvania and Spiderverse, but those films actually feel like you're pushing what you can do in 3D, just slapping a beanmouth style onto a 3D film doesn't feel like you're stretching 3D animation as a medium, only subtracting from it, all they did was make their characters look less appealing. Thankfully with their upcoming Gatto film it looks like they're moving away from that style, lets hope it stays that way.
>>150551744>>150552009>Pixar thenWe don't really have a defined aesthetic, we change things around slightly to reflect what we're portraying.>Pixar nowEverything is 3D beanmouth even when there's zero thematic reason for it to be.
>>150552101it's small, Pixar has more than 1200 employees meanwhile UFOtable has about 250.
>>150552200They have over 1000 employees and a massive budget yet STILL opt for that shitty beanmouth style, ya know, that style that’s made to look cheap as fuck and cut costs
>>150551744Because all of their "artists" have no foundational skills in realism, they're just emulating other artists or cartoons.
>>150552926In most cases of beanmouth it’s moreso a problem with the executives and studios rather than the artists, Elio originally wasn’t gonna be beanmouth in his concept art, but I guess execs see that garbage artstyle as "appealing"
>>150553038>beanmouthIt just makes everything look like Aardman's characters. Moreso in 3D animation. Fuck I hate it.
>>150553185Hey now, at least Aardman’s characters have more effort put into them as well as soul
>>150551744
>>150551744Sure, if you ignore Turning Red, Lightyear, Inside Out 2, Soul, Onward Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2...And if you squint and ignore all the stylistic differences between the "grubhub" ones anyway between the frame skipping, anime faces, dozens of alien designs, and so on.But no, Pixar arr rook da same now, but heaven forbid if Shrek's eyes are reshaped to be 2mm closer together that is so horrifyingly different.
>>150553185the key difference being that aardman characters dont look like they were made by a tumblrina faggot
>>150554748>>150555390Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with Aardman, I'm just saying that doing the beanmouth style in 3D means that Pixar films no longer feel like Pixar, just a bunch of fags trying ape his style.
>>150555027You sound mad
>>150552009I've heard great character design should be recognizable by silhouette alone and I didn't fully appreciate that until I saw this.
>>150552046Shut the fuck up
